What is a proxy?
Generally, a proxy server is a server (a computer system or an application program) that services the requests of its clients by forwarding requests to other servers. A client connects to the proxy server, requesting some service, such as a file, connection, web page, or other resource, available from a different server. The proxy server provides the resource by connecting to the specified server and requesting the service on behalf of the client (more info). Of particular interest to us, are anonymizing proxy servers.

Why can't I use an anonymous proxy?
Anonymous proxy servers may hide your true IP address, which can sometimes prevent Bootleggers from detecting cheaters. The Terms of Service state that you are not anonymous to us. Because of safety precautions and legal issues, we need to have accurate information. By using an anonymous proxy, you can cause damage to Bootleggers and its player community. We cannot allow this.

What can I do?
You can disable your proxy and connect directly to Bootleggers. This is the only permitted way to access the game and community. Please understand that this is in order to protect you, us, and the Bootleggers community.

I can't disable my proxy?
If you can't disable the proxy, and you can't get to Bootleggers without it, this means that you are breaking the rules of your network. Many schools and offices, and some countries, do not allow users to access games, social networks, videos, and other web sites that the Network Administrator believes to be dangerous, illegal, or a misuse of resources. Bootleggers respects these policies (even if we disagree with them); we don't encourage you to break any rules or laws to play the game. It wouldn't be right for us to expect you to follow OUR rules if you won't follow theirs. The best advice we can give, is to contact your service provider or the peson who manages your network and request that they allow access to Bootleggers.
