An Interview With Riserva MotherFrick

Following up on our recent articles on Elite Guard members, we interview Riserva on his life as a Moderator. He was promoted to Moderator, along with Nyxxie on March 3, 2009.

Riserva was a Help Desk Operator for two years before being promoted to Moderator. We asked him how he was promoted. He said, “Sabin and 5Litre contacted me on MSN on March 3, 2009. When I was first added to the conversation, 5Litre said, “Sabin don’t say anything, we don’t want to get him any more mad,” but he didn’t have me fooled. And of course then I was offered the position of Moderator, and I quite clearly accepted. ” Sabin added, “Riserva is still pretty new, but he's shown a lot of promise, and has never given us a reason to doubt his dedication."

The Buzz wondered what Riserva’s first job as a Moderator was, so we asked him. He said, “The first official task given to me by the Administrators was to read the Rules and Regulations as well as any topics in the Crew Forum which contained useful information. After that, it was time to learn the ropes. Luckily for me, the rest of the Staff Members were standing right beside me and helping me whenever I needed help.”

Players who are not part of the Elite Guard have special privileges, most of whom, don’t even realise. These special privileges are hitlisting, shooting and even banking. We asked Riserva if he missed them. He said, “At times, I do. I mean Bootleggers is amazing to play, so who wouldn't, right? But being a Moderator is something I've always wanted. You can't have one, and the other. So if it is these things that I must give up in order to give something back to the community if Bootleggers, then so be it.” He later added, “I of course have had many fun moments as a Moderator, especially the first few days, with the rush of that new promotion. I have also have had many fun moments as a normal player, there is definitely no difference between the two, except the tools at our disposal.”

The Buzz then moved onto a common question, how would you feel if you weren’t a Moderator? Riserva said, “If I was still a Help Desk Operator and had never been invited to become Moderator, I can’t say I would not be disappointed, as I would be a little. But I would still enjoy answering help desk tickets and helping out players, as well as the staff! I can‘t say I would be any different than I was as a normal player.”

We all have our daily Bootleggers routine, but what is Riserva’s? He said, “After I log in, I check the ban appeals. I then proceed to look and answer help desk tickets. I would then look in the Elite Guard forum, and then look to answer questions in the Game Forum. I also love reading the Off Topic forum, and talk to people via BootMail. I am no different than any other player, there are just side benefits that come with being a moderator, such as providing a fair playground for all.”

As the Buzz has mentioned before, we wouldn’t be alive today if we didn’t have your opinions. So we asked two random players about what they thought of Riserva, iiNsD134 and Etalon. iiNsD134 said, “He’s a good moderator.” Etalon told us, “I have not seen much of him/her, but the expressions that I did get where pretty good. But maybe I’m not the best to answer as my experience with him/her is pretty low.”

Again this shows the hard work of Elite Guard members, and what they do to keep Bootleggers alive, not for them, but for us. The Buzz would like to thank all current Elite Guard members for their work on the game.
