No Rules, Just Right? JamesDean

On Sunday afternoon, around the same time as the Buzz was published, dreamnid posted an important thread in the game forum asking players to help test out new Bootleggers servers. Like most others, my curiosity got the best of me so I went to check it out. So what exactly was in store for us? What were the plans for the new servers? Some of this was answered in the thread.

Bootleggers will be moving to new servers in the near future which are located in Washington D.C. here in the USA. It was also suggested by dreamnid that this might improve latency for players from Europe. He had no idea when they would start transitioning to the new servers but was hoping sometime within the week. For the testing, a copy of the database from Friday was used. This should be interesting right?

For those of you who answered yes, you were very correct. Immediately players went crazy on the test server, with crews being taken over, players being hard kicked, and many even killed. We got to see crew names like Altros and JDs Stables, SilentF0rce likes Penis and even Costas And PBK Murk. With a lack of staff members on, the forums went crazy. Some players even commented, wondering where the staff members were to clean things up. This led to many questions about the regular servers. Would the things done on the new server affect it? How would both of these be handled? With many people afraid of what might happen, dreamnid made an update to the game forum post on Monday. He informed us that we were free to do whatever we wanted, as long as we made sure we were on the test server. At the end of the testing, anything done over there would just be erased.

This would only add to the madness that already existed on the test server. It was around this time that we began to see funny stickies getting posted in the forums. Nyxxie got a permanent RIP thread, while Shaggerty, Juan and Kaya got important threads to announce they were there. Could it get more interesting? Of course it could. The next 24 hours would be kind of bland, with a few more people dying and some new crews such as Lost and Neddys Stables, PWNED, Opnieuw’s Home and my personal favorite Free beer here. This server was becoming good entertainment.

On Tuesday, things continued to remain interesting. Shaggerty decided to leave the Elite Guard and began a wild killing rampage, bringing back memories of an actual event from last fall on the real server involving none other then himself. It was reported that he began this rampage with around 8,600,000 bullets. Shortly after, Air also decided to leave the Elite Guard for some fun. Sadly enough, the experience didn’t last long as Shaggerty would kill him with 75,000 bullets. Would this Mod rampage ever end? iOustayh helped us answer that one by putting Shaggerty to rest in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The rest of the week would remain rather uneventful, as the forums quieted down and the action seemed to slow down. A new crew by the name of Shaggy and Tynos Love Hut appeared and the crew spot belonging to PWNED showed up with 114,375 members. Out of the remaining ten crews, six were suspended for failure to pay taxes. I like to call this Wesley Snipes syndrome (Cheap shot, I know)… Finally, at one point, almost every casino was un-owned, which is anything but normal. By the time I put this article together they were all owned, with some players owning quite a few. WarriorOfDeath was in the lead, holding ten.

For those of you who played on the test server this week, thanks for making things fun and interesting. On to a more serious note, as many noticed, the new servers seemed faster and improved. We can only hope this remains the same after the transition is completed.
