Point Prices…Dropping? ryneb

With the introduction of the recent value price feature a bizarre phenomenon has been taking place on the Bootleggers marketplace.

Prior to the introduction of the recent value feature points were generally selling around 300k per point. A few were selling below 300k, but the majority of sellers were getting at least 300k and as much as 330k per point. However since the introduction of the recent value feature the price of points have plummeted. When the feature was initially introduced the recent value was listed at 270k per point, quite odd considering a scan of the classifieds would show that points were being sold for 300k per point. Since the introduction of the feature points are now selling for 250k to 280k per point. Some sell for more than 280k, but very few are actually sold for that much.

One big question is whether the accuracy of the formula used to determine recent point value is true or not. Obviously the administrators cannot release how it works or people might try to manipulate it to lower or raise the recent value. However we are unaware of whether the recent value is the actual selling price of points, or the amount of money received after the 10% bank transfer fee has been removed. If it measures the amount of money received after the transfer fee while players think it is the listed price then the drop in prices would be easily explained. If that’s not the case then the accuracy of the formula certainly seems to be off.

The drop could be due to other factors. Perhaps BSF2000 has been active in verifying points and the addition of many more points has lowered the overall price because there are more people trying to sell their points. While this past week had very limited killing, the previous couple of weeks had many crew takeovers or attempts, and those killed may have increased the amount of points available and lowered the prices.

While the exact reason for the drop in value of points is unknown, something certainly seems wrong as there is almost 40 billion dollars more in the game and yet the prices of points continue to go down.
