COLUMN: Bootleggers' 7th Birthday, my Opinion! MarlonB

Seven years! Seven years of shooting, crews, bootlegging and minor felonies. It certainly is a time of celebration, we have reached a magnificent stage as a community. But what does the future hold? We will discuss it inside. Now where is that cake?

Nom, nom, nom, cake! Well now for the serious writing I suppose. As I said it certainly is a major achievement to reach seven years, but what will happen next? The game is in a decline right now and by the looks of it the game is slowly dieing. It is gripping on to whatever it can grab a hold of to stay alive and it is running out of theoretical rope. Will this game die? Can it be pulled out of the dark abyss of .... well of darkness. I know I sound very cynical and I am making it sound a lot worse then it is, but it has to be put in perspective. The only way this game can even hope to turn back into an active, buzzing community of players again very much relies on BSF2000 .

As far as I can see BSF sits there at the top of the users online list, idle or busy. In fact the only time I can recall him being active in recent history is the little note he left to say it was the 7th birthday! Unless he is doing something that is taking a year to do and it will magically save the game, I can only picture him leaving his PC on and going off to a job or brothel. He is leaving this game to eternal damnation.

However I could be completely wrong. BSF could be devising the ultimate revival plan as I type. He could be organizing deals and advertisement. He could be the most active person in the game and the constant “Busy” beside his name could really mean he is busy. For all I know I could come on at this time next year and we could have an updated, vibrant, new Bootleggers. There could once more be a lot more people playing and all will be well. However this time next year the site might not even exist!

Oh the process of my mind. I think I put a little too much thought into this, it is after all a free online game. Have we grown to expect too much from BSF and this free game? I mean he only makes money from points we buy as players, we don’t have to but some of us do. He does use the money he makes from it to run competitions for us. Yet still we want more! It could be time to grow up and accept he might be done with the game instead of sitting in the forums saying, “BSF look here muyt, a list of ideaz I madez for you.” We should be gracious for what we have got and we will be lucky if it happens again.

Reading back now I realised I switched sides a lot! But sometimes you have to, to convey all the points you try to make. I hope I did! But anyway that’s enough from me, maybe I should take a chill pill and celebrate Bootleggers birthday and try not to complain so much. Maybe I will get some more of that cake. Happy birthday Bootleggers! May there will be more to come… And of course more cake too!!!
