Last week, we asked you to complete a survey to provide us with some information to find a little bit more about our community. It was our suspicion that as time has progressed, our more experienced players have remained loyal to the game with few new youngsters coming in to keep the average age constant. This week, we review the data to see if our prediction that the Bootleggers community is getting older is true.
What is your age?
First of all, we asked for your age. Of the 37 players that responded, the average age was 24, with the oldest player 60 years old (apparently!) and the youngest 16. Interestingly, there were 5 Bootleggers 30+ and 5 players 18 or below.
What year did you start to play Bootleggers?
We also asked the year that players have been playing since. The average was 2005, with 6 people claiming to have begun their Bootleggers career in 2003, which was the year BSF2000 released the game to the public. Astoundingly, of all the responses, only 2 players claim to have started playing after 2007.
Have the majority of your Bootleggers friends played for more than 2 years?
Most players that responded (27) also say that their friends have played for two years, with 7 uncertain and 2 saying that the majority of their friends have plated for less than two years.
How did you first hear of Bootleggers?
When asked how they heard of Bootleggers, we had 33 stating that a friend had shown them Bootleggers (with 13 specifically stating a school friend. 2 players found Bootleggers through a search engine and 1 through an advertisement suggesting that maybe more could be invested into advertising to bring new players in. We had 1 player that could not remember.
What was your first crew?
The most common answer to this question was "Can't Remember" with 4. The next most popular were "None" (3) and "Revelation" (3).
If you were to estimate an average age of the Bootleggers community, what would it be?
Finally we asked users to estimate an average age for our community. The lowest age estimated was 12 (based on the forum posts), whereas the oldest estimate was 30. The average age estimated was 23.
Of course, we understand that all the above data is true and it only represents a small portion of our community, but we may never know for sure!
