I have had a wide range of names. But the most prolific name I have had this round is Voluns. My reasons behind this name are very strange. Other names include Rob_Stark (and other Stark's) and Radkos. Each name was chosen for a specific reason which, due to this being the 100th issue, I decided to share with you all! The other Buzz writers should have similar articles to explain their varied choices!
Let's start with Voluns. It is a strange name! Back when I was younger I had a reoccurring dream where I was sat at a desk and typing or writing with various tools. I was an author who wrote under a pen name. The strange part is that all I did in the dream was write and that the contents of that writing always escaped me when I awoke. The only thing that stayed with me was the Pen name I was writing under, Voluns Vostinovich. I had this dream for well over a year. I had never seen or heard of 'Voluns' before and when I was a little bit older I started using it as my handle. Now, on various sites, if you ever see a username Voluns it is likely to be me as I still haven't seen it used by anyone else.
Next on the list was Sorin_Markov. This is a bit of an odd one to explain. At this point I will also mention Rakdos and Ral_Zarek as they are linked. All three of these names are from a favourite past time of mine called Magic the Gathering. For those of you who haven't heard of this game it is played in real life (or online on special software) using cards to defeat an opponent. All three of these are cards. Two are people within the story of the game which are very powerful with unique abilities and Rakdos is the name of a demonic lord who has a lot of cards named after him!
The final names on the list are the Starks. At this point I am sure that everyone has seen the world famous TV series called 'Game of Thrones'. In case you haven't, the Starks are a family from the TV show. Robb, Bran and Rickon are the male sons of Lord Eddard Stark. Since I am male I chose to go with the male linage. I was questioned as to why I didn't go with some of the other characters from the show but I honestly didn't connect with many of the other characters. I have seen all of the TV shows and am currently reading the books. Since I had not read the books when I started using the character names I actually spelt Robb Stark wrong and called him Rob. I love the story and the way it is written and decided to honour that with using them for my character name on Bootleggers.
I have been asked several times why I have gone from Voluns to Voluns7 without choosing new names. The honest answer is that people started to remember me more as Rob_Stark than Voluns and I wanted to re-affirm my identity for other users and amongst my friends on here. I have also been asked what the future holds for me. As I have explained, I will be changing my name again next round when it starts but I do not see the point of bringing a new name in for a round that is at the end of it's life. So for the foreseeable future I will be increasing the numbers of Voluns but in the next round I will use a new set of names. Since I am quite likely to stay with the Buzz (if they will have me) it shouldn't be too hard for people to find me! As always, good luck and happy ranking!
