Hello and welcome to the first edition of BSF's 2000 Characters, a series about what's going on behind the scenes of Bootleggers and what's to come. I've decided to do this every-other week, with the intention of improving some of the communication to you, the players. Each article will roughly be as the name implies, 2000 characters, but will vary depending on just how much is actually going on that's worth discussing. For the most part I will just be summarizing some of what's going on behind the scenes and leaving the more in-depth announcements (such as new feature releases/updates) to forum posts as has routinely been done. I'm definitely excited to see how this goes and hope you enjoy it.
Currently in the works and something you all should be seeing very soon is the next set of Missions. I definitely want Missions to play a much larger role in the game than they have in previous rounds. The missions in the previous rounds were fine, there was just far too few of them. I don't want them to be something that a player completes a few of and then is done with that feature for the life of that account; but instead something that continues to be available even after reaching the higher ranks. As such, Missions will continue to be released as sets and the next set of them will be appearing shortly.
In the same update as the next Missions will come a series of smaller updates/features. This includes some updates to the News page, some bug fixes (such as escrowing of witness statements), and a few other miscellaneous updates. But I will leave those to be announced when they arrive. That is the short-term happenings.
One of the updates on the plate for the mid-future is the next casino being upgraded to the version 2 style of casinos. Roulette was the first casino to receive this update and the next casino is already in the middle of development. While there is something to be said regarding the simplicity of the current casinos and the previous Roulette, they simply don't do justice to the games. There's more depth to each of the games and the updated versions of them strive to offer that depth. The completion of the entire new line of casinos is unfortunately still quite a bit away, but it is actively being developed and the next part of the series is looking great.
There are also some more great things planned for the short-, mid-, and long-term future that may be discussed in future issues but for now, these were the items I wanted to mention. I really hope you're enjoying the current round of play and I am really excited for the continued development of the game. I also wanted to mention a big thanks to Riserva for playing a huge part in Bootleggers getting to Round 7. He's not only been a loyal Moderator but a great friend. Both Mika and Aldarion have also shown their dedication to the game leading up to Round 7. The three of them definitely deserve recognition and I thought I would use this as an opportunity for that. Of course we have new members of staff who are doing great but for getting to Round 7, the previously mentioned played a big part. So thanks to them as well as to all the wonderful players who really make this game into something special. I am very happy to be here with you as Head Administrator and I look forward to what's to come.
