Hello iceking, congratulations on winning the Golden Barrel mystery! How do you feel?
iceking wrote:
Excited! Never won such a tough competition on bootleggers before.
FlameS wrote:
It was indeed very tough! I personally struggled immensely! I know most people who looked at it found it equally challenging.
So please do enlighten us, away from Bootleggers are you some sort of master code breaker?
iceking wrote:
I wouldn't call myself a master at code breaking really, but I like solving puzzles and trying to figure things out and put them in the right order, I suppose this helped me out in breaking this mystery.
FlameS wrote:
Sounds like this challenge was right up your street! So please give us an idea of how you actually worked everything out, did you manage to solve it alone?
iceking wrote:
I actually had some help from the amazing OhsomeAwe, we teamed up after we had cracked the code for the first box.
It was him who cracked the writing on the duesenberg and with that we tried a few codes til "SITEM" gave the correct answer.
The third box was the easiest in my opinion, it took 10 minutes to separate the bold letters and rearrange them to get a phrase which referred to a previous buzz article.
As for the last box, it was quite hard to figure out what the numbers stood for, so I used a word document and used the find and replace function in order to change few of the numbers to letters. It took 5 hours with the help of OhsomeAwe to figure the answer for the last box.

Well it does sound like a lot of work even with two of you working on it. Are you planning on splitting the prize with him?
iceking wrote:
I did promise him a share when we joined forces, yes.
FlameS wrote:
Very noble of you to stick to your word. So the prize is extremely large, how can you see yourself spending your share?
iceking wrote:
Seeing that the point prices are skyrocketing at the moment, I plan on saving them for a while til everything settles down again and maybe buy a casino because I love the rush of seeing my money increase and decrease with every bet

A tactician that likes an element of risk! I'm sure you'll use them wisely. And to conclude this interview I was hoping you could give all of the readers a little information about yourself, a brief history of your time on bl, and maybe even a few facts about your off line self.

I played bootleggers for couple of years now, but I don't recall much from the past other than not being able to reach don as something would happen and I would get killed.
Away from bootleggers, I am actually a third year engineering student studying in England! And I'm a huge football fan.
FlameS wrote:
Well, thank you very much for the interview, I hope by you agreeing to do it that it alleviates you being just a faceless competition winner to some players.
My final question for you, is there anything you'd like to say to the bootleggers community whilst you’re in the spotlight?
iceking wrote:
Just to enjoy this game and not take it too seriously.
And also a special thanks to Poison and ShyGuy for hosting this competition and coming up with these tough riddles, it was great fun and should be repeated more often.

Then I shall finish where I started by saying congratulations iceking! Enjoy your prize, and we hope to see you in future competitions.
Thanks to all the people who took part in the competition, and we hope to see you in future Buzz contests. If you wish to see the correct answers and to understand how is was solved, please see this week's Article by ShyGuy; The player responsible for the creation, funding and overall running of this very creative endeavour, many thanks from everyone.
