Here we are for another round of TV Rip-Offs and again we’re doing Room 101. Last week MysticWig managed to banish three out of five choices. Let’s see if this week’s guest can do any better. This week’s guest is sp0k3y.
Here are his choices:
1. Screaming Kids in Restaurants
Reason behind the choice:
Nothing is worse than trying to eat a meal just to have kids screaming through it because their parents can’t control them. I go out for a nice meal not a fucking headache pisses me off to no end.
Argument against:
Well, this one might be a favourable choice because two weeks ago, Arkanto chose ‘Parents of Unruly Children’ and I put it into Room 101. But I guess that there is some ambiguity to this selection. ‘Screaming’ can be considered to be the same as crying. Sometimes babies or young children will cry because that is their only means of communication. Should babies and toddlers be taken to restaurants? Probably not, but if you didn’t allow them to then it wouldn’t be a very free world. However, I think that your choice is hardly aimed at very small children, and is more so aimed at the kid of children that run around and don’t have an indoor voice.
The verdict:
2. The England Football Team
Reason behind the choice:
Every year we hype it up like this is the year we can win it just to be let down EVERY time. No point in bothering anymore, we’re just going to lose in the quarters finals anyway.
Argument against:
Now, it’s fair to say that any big follower of the England football team will have been disappointed many times in the past. Football is the biggest sport in the UK and getting behind your national team is something that everyone tries to do. However, they are overhyped, they aren’t as good as everyone makes out, and maybe that is where the problem is. Going into the World Cup in South Africa, England were joint favourites at one point. Obviously not from the point of Robert Green dropping the ball into his own goal.
But the issue is this: the England football team aren’t the ones behind their own hype. That hypes comes from the man on the street, or the media outlets. I love football and for that reason alone, I cannot get rid of the England team.
The verdict:
3. The Price of a Pint
Reason behind the choice:
It’s just stupid! £3.50 for a pint at the pub, it’s just stupid and causing pubs to close means we can’t go out and enjoy a pint. Fewer needs to be fucking changed and lower the price of a pint!
Argument against:
Speaking as someone that is Teetotal all I can do is laugh at people being ripped off for alcohol. As someone objective though, I have to say that it seems unfair that pubs and clubs charge stupid prices for alcohol. Drinking in a pub is a national tradition in the UK and my concern is that if it becomes too expensive, tourists won’t come to our pubs and sit in an “Irish themed” bar just for the sake of it.
The verdict:
4. People like Teachers Going on Strike
Reason behind the choice:
You have an easy fucking job with decent pay and you want more think of the soldiers. You greedy bastards have it fucking easy compared to them.
Argument against:
Teachers going on strike are kind of funny. They have pretty good pay and great holidays. As for sp0key’s comparison with soldiers, I’m not sure that you can compare it. All jobs and industries are different. It would be like paying a brain surgeon the same as a street sweeper and saying “you have it easy as a surgeon, you only perform surgery once a week, and this guy is cleaning the streets every day!”
The ability to go on strike is also an important tool for employees everywhere. Sometimes people have to strike in order to improve their working conditions. If no one could go on strike then you would be stuck with whatever was offered, whether it was fair or not.
In this case, I’m going to slightly modify what I’m putting into Room 101. I’m putting in professionals that go on strike when they already have a good thing going on.
The verdict:
5. Bootleggers – Gymnasium (Levelling)
Reason behind the choice:
If you level up Strength it means all the others increase even though they’re only level one. They should go up per level separately, not because Strength is 15 that it takes even longer to level agility from one. It’s a stupid bit of code needs that needs changing to separate them, so they level each one at a time.
Argument against:
I’ll be honest, when I signed up to Bootleggers this round and started levelling up on the gymnasium; I noticed that it became harder to improve stamina and agility after levelling up strength. I wasn’t sure whether it was supposed to work that way and submitted a help desk ticket asking whether or not it was a bug. I was informed that it was working as it should be.
It is slightly strange but I sort of understand why it is done that way. It’s just an extra little thing that makes it slightly longer between levelling up. It makes it a little bit harder to get the best gun and protection. In truth, it isn’t really a great deal. Maybe comparing level 30 to level 1, but in reality, in comparison to the last level, it’s only an extra ten points.
The verdict:
Thanks to sp0k3y for being this week’s guest. He managed to get 3/5 choices banished to Room 101. If you’re interested in doing this then drop me a BM.
