This bank holiday weekend, the Queen of the United Kindom, Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her Diamond Jubilee, meaning she has been Queen for 60 years. We at the Buzz wondered what Bootleggers might be like in 60 years time, and came up with a few suggestions.
60 years; a long time by anyone's standards; BSF may have to change his name to BSF2060 to keep with the times, a good few of the current generation of players will have died and a whole lot more will have grown up and stopped playing (hopefully). Imagine though, if Bootleggers was still around.... what would it be like? Will missions have kept on growing exponentially and we'll be on Mission #1537, with Bim's Mission Guide going on for miles and miles? Will the Buzz still not yet have managed to publish a morning issue? Will the updates page still have the same 9 updates listed on it?
We don't know, of course, but we had a good chat about this on the Buzz forum and a few suggestions surfaced, the first of which was rather interesting, and hopefully inaccurate:
It would be near enough exactly the same, except the background colour would be a slightly darker shade of gray.
Who can knock an aesthetic change, eh? I disagree though, the background colour has still got a good 100 years life in it yet!
Next came an equally far-fetched suggestion, as it would not only require BSF letting someone else have control of his game, but also it would require him to reproduce:
The game would be handed down to BSF's son, a crazy young millionaire rich kid, who gives out 1000's of points to players signing up with an email address that could be a girl.
We all know BSF doesn't have time for dating! He's too busy buying Ferrari's with point sales and planning the next round of updates; and writing his bi-weekly 2000 characters of course!
Then we turned all futuristic, with a couple of suggestions on how technology would have moved the game on. Firstly:
Played through 4-D goggles; The forums are all a different bar, if you come in and try to sell something in the Game bar, Poison (The bouncer) and his yellow and green coloured friends, come over and smash a champagne bottle in your face, and throw you behind the dumpsters (Off topic "bar")
While that sounds like great fun to me, and the rest of the Staff, we weren't sure how much fun sitting there and shooting someone with 50,000 bullets would be- although I'm sure there are plenty of you out there who have achieved that feat in a single day of Call Of Duty!
In the end though we realised the obvious, in 51 years time, the concept of Bootleggers will have worn a little bit thin, so to keep up with the times the game will have evolved into something new and different...
We'd go from this:
To this:
We'll be bootlegging from planet to planet, taking literal Moonshine from the where it was mined on the Moon to Pluto (well aware it's not a planet any more!)
So there you are- mystery solved, and the musings of the Buzz Forum revealed. Aren't we a creative bunch? What do you think? Where will Bootleggers be after 60 years? Post your ideas here and the best idea will appear in next weeks issue and win the person who suggested if $250,000!
