Definitely a Nay for me. To be honest, I’m already frustrated by the fact that I need to write ‘The Royal Family’ with capital letters. From now on, no more capital letters. Anyway, in this article I’ll give you my personal opinion about the royal family of The Netherlands. Why The Netherlands?! Well since I’m Dutch I don’t know anything about the English royal family. The only thing I know is the size of Kate’s ass, she gets an 8/10 if you ask me. I hope you can face some criticism and cynicism, because I’m not holding back. It’s time for a change!
I have a dream, a beautiful quote from the one and only Martin Luther King. In his speech he called for racial equality and an end to discrimination. Discrimination, what does that mean anyway? Well, discrimination is the prejudicial treatment of an individual based on their membership in a certain group or category. An awesome definition, brought you by Wikipedia. In The Netherlands we’re discriminating on a ‘good way’, because we’re commending the royal family to the skies. But why? Why is ‘everyone’ such a fan of the royal family? Is it because they wear ridiculous hats? Or maybe because they wave at us on queens day?!
Enough hating for now. The royal family are loved in The Netherlands, because they truly love our country. They represent our nation, our people and our orange color. But they do NOT represent the 21th century. In the Middle Ages, you were lucky if you were born in a rich family. You had a future, a job, a horse and the most important thing, for some: money. You may say we’re in the 21th century now, but as you can see, not everything has changed. Our current queen, was just a lucky girl. Well, her childhood was terrible and she never had a choice of choosing her current position. It’s up to you if you call that really lucky.
So this woman, the queen, is busy 24/7. She doesn’t have an easy job, I’ll give you that one. Do you even know what kind of job she has? Well mostly state visits, working visits, awarding fancy pins, etc. But is she the right person for this job? Because she’s part of the ‘lucky’ family, she gets this job. Isn’t it smarter to give this job to someone which actually studied for such a terrible ‘job’? It’s probably cheaper, unless it’s above the 45 million euro’s. 45 million euro’s?! That’s right, our lovely queen gets a juicy 45 million a year for her hard work.
Now don’t get me wrong, because I don’t hate our current queen nor the royal family. I hate the system, which is called a constitutional monarchy. I won’t give this definition, because it will make this article even worse than it’s already is, but it means: a monarchy with a king or queen which is totally pointless. The queen CAN have some influence in the politics, but when this happens it will be a major chaos and nobody will accept it. So let’s change it already? The monarchy in The Netherlands are known as a ceremonial monarchy, but it’s not official, yet. Does our queen, really need 45 million for this whole circus? No, she doesn’t.
You can call me jealous because I don’t earn 45 million euro’s with state visits, but at least I had a puppyhood. No camera’s when I was on vacation, I chose my own study and I don’t wear any ridiculous hats. Well royal family of The United Kingdom, congratulations on your sixtieth jubilee. But let one thing be clear. Every person in my opinion is equal. Because everyone who poops, has to pull their pants down. Even the royal family!
Happy Jubilee Elizabeth.
**A note from the Editor: The Buzz would like to apologise for the poor grammar in not correctly capitalising 'The Royal Family'. We would also like to express that this is ShyGuy's view and not that of the Buzz, if anyone needs to be beheaded, it's him. Long live the Queen.
