On June 14th 2012 FlameS got promoted to a Help Desk Operator. But who is this FlameS and why on earth did he got promoted and not someone else? The Buzz is about to tell you in a colourful article!
So who the hell is FlameS?! For the people who’d like to know something more about him we’ll give a short introduction. His name is Joe and he’s 23 years old. He’s from England and he just finished writing his dissertation for his Degree in Forensic Science and Crime Scene Investigation. Crime Scene Investigation? That’s right! Isn’t that a perfect lead-up for becoming a Moderator and discover all those dupers? Anyway, his hobbies are playing/watching golf and tennis. He’s also an active poker player so if you got the poker face, you could challenge him. His Bootleggers history may be more interesting for you, so here it comes. FlameS started playing in 2005. He’s been in loads of crews over the years, but the crew that he spent the most time in was The Eternal Circle (which was run by a player called RTMFW). In round five he founded his own crew together with Twiztid. At this moment FlameS is part of the Buzz team and I think he’s doing an extremely good job!
Having said that, it’s time for an exclusive interview with the fresh promoted Pikachu; FlameS. How did he feel after his handsome promotion? He stated: ‘It has not yet settled in, I truly did not expect to be offered the role, but I am overjoyed that someone, somewhere thought I would be good in yellow’. FlameS told us that he got contacted by Mika. The naughty Moderator wanted to talk about the conduct of FlameS in the forums. FlameS felt like he was getting a telling off and he was perplexed for a few minutes. According to Mika this was the standard Elite Guard prank for FlameS. Something which is priceless diverting if you ask me! Next, we asked FlameS how he looks into the future. As everyone knows a Pikachu can evolve. Will the Crime Scene Investigator look good in green? He stated: ‘I haven't even began to think about most of my HDO duties yet, I have no idea what the future will hold, for now, I am very happy as a Pikachu’. Finally, FlameS wants to thanks all the players who supported and congratulated him!
Next it was time for The Buzz to get our suits out the closet and pay a visit to the Elite Guard Moderators. We wanted to know their opinions about the promotion of FlameS! Aldarion couldn’t make a proper judgement, because he’s been slightly inactive based on RL duties, but from what he has seen the promotion was deserved and he’s happy to have a new Help Desk Operator on the team. Mika told that FlameS displayed both knowledge of the game as a professional attitude towards others, which are the traits that a Help Desk Operator needs. Sky was also very positive about FlameS promotion. He stated: ‘FlameS has been consistently helpful in the forums and has contributed greatly to the community, by means such as service to the Buzz and hosting competitions for the players’. The Buzz also contacted the Head Moderator Riserva, nevertheless, we didn’t receive a reaction.
We weren’t done with the Moderators yet, because we had plenty of other questions. What happened with TFKyle, the previous Help Desk Operator, and why did FlameS got chosen and not someone else? We asked Sky how the process of choosing a Help Desk Operator works. Did the Moderators stalk FlameS while he was a normal player? Sky explained everything: ‘It doesn't really work like that. In the process of our duties in the forum we start to notice people who are helpful, and generally good for the game. And in a weird twist those people often end up being Buzz writers too. But when it comes time to decide we look at as much as we can, mainly focusing on activity, but a great deal of it is gut-feeling’. Talking about activity brings us to TFKyle. He got removed from the Help Desk, but a few days later FlameS got added. The Buzz contacted Mika. He stated: ‘FlameS was added because we felt we needed the HDOs to span more online time. Now that Kyle is removed it became more needed, but FlameS being added was not caused by Kyle's removal. This is by no means a replacement’. Understandable and clear, time to move on!
Our next stop were the colleagues of FlameS; the Help Desk Operators and the Buzz writers. We asked Altro if he had any tips for FlameS. The outcome was to be expected, Altro stated: ‘Start thinking of a new username. It’s around this time in a reset HDO’s start dying once or twice a week’. Looks promising! Time for the next stop; Poison. We asked Poison his opinion about the promotion of FlameS. He stated: ‘I do think it was well deserved, he's shown his ability to work hard and hold a position of responsibility during his time at the Buzz while at the same time being really helpful in the forums’. We also contacted Afty; currently head columnist. He stated: ‘I think FlameS fully deserves the promotion. He's a decent member of the community and I've seen him help out quite a few players on the forums. I say congratulations and good luck’. Of course powerbear, a Buzz writer, also wanted to share his opinion, he stated: ‘I think it's a well deserved promotion. He is quick to respond to problems in the Forums, with a fair opinion’. We also contacted FlyingDeathSquirrel but he didn’t response. Personally, I want to say: Congratulations FlameS! You’re doing an incredible good job and I wish you all the best in the near future!
