Hello fellow Bootleggers, and welcome to this weeks edition of my hot topics. This week I wanted to discuss the new kill and witness statement (WS) feature and I am glad to say that a huge amount of you got in touch with your opinions.
As always I try to give you some suggested questions to base your opinions around, this week I posted;
- What drives you to kill someone?
- Do you prefer the new kill system over the old one?
- Do you struggle to find Witness Statements of importance to you?
Here are some of the responses that I received;
What Drives you to kill someone
I will kill someone if:
I am part of a crew, and the crew requires it, if a friend needs assistance or needs someone killed. If someone insults me or I find them particularly rude/ignorant.

Mostly it would be inactive accounts, to calculate bullets needed. Or if I was in a crew if the person was a threat.

It takes a lot for me to kill anyone today. It is overrated. The thrill of the hunt is just not there anymore.

What drives me to kill is usually boredom. I will set my sights and accomplish it. From there vengeance. I liked the four hours, but I like the new system more and more because of its possible repercussions on innocents. Witness statements have never been a concern of mine.

Them being a dick in forums, car thieves, threats against EH, dupes all make good targets.

I was actually quite surprised about the variety of reasons given for wanting to kill someone, I expected the usual threats to crews and people who are rude, but killing through boredom is original if nothing else.
Do you prefer the new Kill and Witness Statement system over the old one?
There are both pro's and cons for the new killing system in my opinion/
Pros :
I love the fact there is no shootout. That was awful. Trying to shoot more than a few people was horrible!
Killing can be fast
Its possible to shoot people and get away with it.
Its very much more simplified compared to it used to be
Cons :
CURRENTLY its expensive for fast searches. In the near future with inflation, that wont matter as much.
Searches can be slow, again inflation may help when able to afford 200k per search per state etc.
After being killed its not always possible to find out your killer. (Yes I know its a pro for a killer and a con for the victim).
Unless very experienced its hard for people to know how many bullets to use. This can be gained from experience and asking people but its not easy for beginners.

The new kill system is much better than last round, 100% but I think it would still be improved, although personally I like the effects the GYM has on killing.

I prefer this, the shootout gave you 5 minutes to warn people you were being attacked whereas in reality you'd be a bit preoccupied. Also, if the suicide was brought back, suicide and murder would be near impossible to tell the difference.

It seems the majority of you did prefer the new kill system, regardless of it’s negatives when compared to the previous system, I felt Oenomaus gave a decent summary of what the majority of you said.
Do you struggle to find Witness Statements of importance to you?
Everyone does. Seems like it's a longshot to get any WS of reasonable percentage.

Why there is always one out there and you will be found sooner or later. Just own up to your kills and die like a man/woman.

As for witness statements I think there should be a defined way to verify a WS to 100% even if you have to buy it from points page.Being shot and not finding a shooter kinda sucks I always like to return the favor to any shooter of me or crew mates.

It seems the majority of players did indicate that the new Witness Statement system has made it hard to locate WS’s, especially one with a high percentage of reliability
Many thanks to all of you that shared your opinions with me, unfortunately I cannot include everyone’s responses but be sure that everything I received was more than worthy of making the article.
If you have ideas for future topics to explore, then feel free to get in touch with me whenever.
Happy Bootlegging.
