The National State of Affairs Sulphur

With the recent discovery of a bug in the State Don invitation system there has been much discussion about the rank in question. We, at the Buzz, felt the time was right for us to remind ourselves of just what being a State and Nation Don means. With the help of a few of last rounds State and Nation Dons, we help explain what all the fuss is about.

So you've been ranking your way up to Legendary Don. You've been doing as many Organised Crimes as possible and running booze from state to state. You finally get that long sort after invitation to become a State Don. You accept; but now what? What's the difference between being a Legendary Don and a State Don? Firstly, Legendary Don is just the same as all of the other ranks, although youneed to use fewer bullets on those who you see fit to shoot. State Don is the first rank where just 9 people have exclusive privileges that the rest of the players do not. The first of these is you get your own personal Bullet Factory. As we all know from the amount of discussions about Bullet Factories, they are a key tool in the arsenal of any crew wishing to become infamous. Having your own factory is an enormous help as you can create a stock of bullets without having to buy 100 at a time for varying costs. With bullets factories being such a key asset their must be a catch, well, yes there is. The Bullet Factory requires 10 million dollars to build but with such benefits you expect there to be some cost!

With all these bullets, you would need something to shoot at. Luckily, being the State Don you have a fair amount of influence over those pesky Private Investigators and they'll find who you're looking for in a matter of minutes as long as they're in your state! This, obviously, is an enormous benefit as there is no more waiting around for investigators to track people down for you. Shoot at a State Don at your own risk because if you fail to kill him, your name will most likely turn up on the next Buzz Obituary list.

On becoming State don you may feel a bit vulnerable with your name on the States page and a silver profile background; clearly marked as one of the most powerful players in the game. Let's be honest, you might as well have painted a target on your back. So what can you do to prevent being killed? The answer, hire bodyGuards. Each State Don has the option of having 3 body guards who will act as more protection should you be attacked.

Being in charge of an entire state also comes with the privilege of getting a percentage of the profit made by that state to use as you wish. These come from Gun sales, Protection Sales, Hospital fees and so on. Needless to say that you can amass a fair amount of wealth from being in such a privileged position.

But enough of this talk of State Dons. You've achieved that now, but what's next? You guessed it. Nation Don. It goes without saying that there is only one Nation Don who is more powerful than even the State Dons. So what has changed when you become the Nation Don. Not a huge amount other than the fact you can hire an additional two bodyguards bringing your total to five. With your extra influence you can also ensure that your Bullet Factory is producing as many bullets as possible meaning that you can create double the amount a State Don can make (roughly estimated as 28,000 by Rawhide) bringing you to a massive 56,000 bullets per day. Once again you have a different profile colour, this time gold rather than silver. With even more bullets it seems apt that you can now search for anyone and find them in minutes, after all you are the Nation Don!

Any last words of advice from previous State and Nation Dons of previous rounds?
Shoot. This is the resounding response that has been highlighted. Indeed, even if you act as though you are no threat to anyone, with a limited number of places for State Don and just a single place for Nation Don, you are constantly under fire. Get ahead by ensuring you stamp out your competition and trust only those who you know would happily give their life for your protection. Furthermore, it is a good idea to have resources stocked so that you can afford to get those builders working on your bullet factory the moment you're appointed. Above all, enjoy the position. It's not an easy rank to achieve and you earned it.

That wraps up this little insight into the role of State and Nation Dons. It is worth noting that this information is representative of what it was like to be in the position last round. We can only speculate about the improvements that may have arrived until we get our first State and Nation Dons. Keep watching that statistics page.

With thanks to Rawhide, HBSv2 and Craig_avfc89 for their input, see you next week.

Happy Ranking!
