I, not unlike a lot of people here thought that this game is dead. A couple of days ago I read a GF post by Mika saying that Bootleggers is going to conduct a Hunger Games in its own style. Again, I, not unlike a lot of people here, thought this was some gimmick to divert attention from more important issues like the State Don bug, BJ revamp and all.
Then I had a thought to apply for THG to just see what the hype was all about. I applied and got into the 10 from District 5. Next thing I know , I am one of the selected tributes. A shock it was, not for the fear of being killed but for the exclusiveness of being selected among 50 other people. I got hooked on to the topic and I found myself refreshing my GF page once every 5 minutes desperately looking for an update. I got a BM telling me that I have to join the Hunger Games crew by a certain time specified. As this is the first time I was part of a crew (TFT), I forgot to tell my crew boss to soft kick me so that I can apply for THG crew. I thought for a while and decided to BM Aldarion (he was online at that time) about my problem. I get a reply within the next minute telling me that he will sort it out.
Now I have seen the selection process, the general outlay and the amount of planning put into this. I must say a lot of time and effort has been put in by Aldarion and Mika to plan this game and make it interesting for the players inside as well as the players outside. I am truly amazed by the amount of interaction between the tributes and the hosts, to say the very least. The topics created on CF and GF, the mini games to distribute bullets and equipment and the storyline have me hooked on to my screen.
Call me whatever you want but I gave up a night of drinking and partying to just stare at my monitor. Getting to my point, I would like to thank Mika and Aldarion for hosting The Hunger Games (Bootleggers style), for all their help to the tributes and for their commitment to keep this game interesting.
If games like this are hosted on BL now and then, I can confidently say that the game is far from being dead. Also I would like the rest of the BL community to take their chance to thank Mika and Aldarion for this amusing game plan and execution.
I have a suggestion though! Hunger Games or any other competition for that matter, sould be held separately for the low ranks as well as high ranks so that every one selected has a fair chance of winning.
