A Newcomer's Perspective z2kk

As I’m sure many of you are ‘old school’ and have played the game for many years, our view on Bootleggers may have become jaded. I decided that I wanted the view of somebody new and fresh. So on random I approached burningblueskyy (BBS) who had signed up just over a week ago, for a little interview!

Z: Hi. I’m z2k and I’d like to start by thanking you for agreeing to be interviewed. The first thing I’d like to know is how did you find out about Bootleggers?
BBS: This will make me sound like a girl with no life... but I googled it. My exact search words were "browser based gangster games" because I used to play one when I was 12 and loved it I’m 19 now though.

Z: Haha! I’m curious, how high up in the Google rankings did BL come?
BBS: It’s like the 3rd or 4th one. I picked it because it had the most badass name haha

Z: That’s an interesting choice of name. On signing up that’s the first decision you have to make so what inspired you?
BBS: It's from a song I used to listen to when I was a little girl that went "bleed these colors open wide, burning blue from butterflies". I just thought sky fit better lol!

Z: I’m sure you’re not the first to choose a name after a song! Well after choosing a name and signing in what was the first thing you did?
BBS: Edited my profile I hate being just another boring member and wanted to make my profile stand out lol (it still needs work…sigh lol I’m learning) then I committed a crime and failed so I thought I needed to train at the gym more to be successful. Hahaha noobieness at its finest!

Z: I’m sorry for taking up soo much of your time. Just a few more questions. So as a newcomer I’m sure you needed help at times. What actions did you take?
BBS: Noo its fine I have nothing else to do. I’m doing the shooting range thing. Oh yeah lol I needed help like crazy haha couldn’t even post on the forum! I went on the BL FB page for that. Also, I made friends here. They helped me TONS! They are such fantastic people

Z: Good to hear! As I have already explained, I am a reporter for the Buzz. Was this the first time you've heard about the Buzz or had you come across it already?
BBS: I did come across it. I'm a writer as well so it was one of the first things that caught my attention here. It's another reason why I love this website as they encourage reading and writing. Two of my favourite things to do (I sound so lame lolol)

Z: Oh not at all! In fact it makes you intellectual which is always a good thing. The next thing I’d like to ask your opinion about is what have been the best and worst thing about Bootleggers?
BBS: Well… I love how you can be anybody you want here. I mean in real life I’m just a boring 19 year old but here I’m a 19 year old bootlegger bahah I’m also fascinated by the 1920s and gangsters like Al Capone… I feel like I live in that era I love the messaging and the chat feature. It makes communication SO MUCH easier. I hate that you can’t do anything when you’re hospitalized or in the shooting range

Z: What is your opinion on the staff here. The Help Desk Operators, the Moderators and our owner and admin Mr BSF2000 himself?
BBS: How creepy is it that I was JUST BL-stalking the owner's profile?? Lolll I just visited the Help Desk. I haven’t really come into contact with any of the staff so I can’t really form an opinion about them. I liked this one person’s profile though because he/she had all this info about the game on it.. I forget his/her name... >.> This website is running pretty good so I’m assuming they aren’t slackers

Z: Haha that is a coincidence. Riserva would be the mod with a little FAQ on his profile. Ok last question now. On the whole, how are you finding the experience?
BBS: Addicting! Some people have been on here for more than 4 years and I can see why! It’s sooo fun. I love it!

Z: Well that concludes the interview. Thank you for your time and make sure you read the Buzz on Sunday!
BBS: I will! Thank you for interviewing me

It was refreshing to hear new and unbiased opinions and such enthusiasm for the game. It made me question whether the majority of us have become so disillusioned by BSF2000's lack of updates that we have forgotten what truly made Bootleggers a great game, the original concept and the community?
