At the Buzz we formulated the idea to ask BSF2000 20 questions which would be extrapolated from the general public. However, as it appears to be nearly impossible to get hold of our often frustrating owner, we approached our Green Guardians instead. Sky was kind enough to agree to face 20 random questions which could range from a variety of topics.
So we set about making a game forum topic to find out what the people wanted to ask. After shifting through all the pessimism, laughter and nonsense, we got together the following selection which I then presented to him.
Q: If you could just give us a little intro please Sky?
My real name is James, I'm 21 and live in sunny England. Sorry I appear to have misspelled rainy there.
Q: Well the first question is from myself. It’s actually two questions but what the hell. I would like to know how regularly and through which medium do you (the Mods) communicate with BSF2000?
A: Not as a regularly as I'd like, and usually through Riserva whom BSF has intrusted with his mobile phone number.
Q: The next question is from one of our esteemed editors, ShyGuyIII. He would awkwardly like to know what brand of underwear you’ll be wearing on Sunday when you’re reading this very article?
A: None. I always read the Buzz in the buff.
Q: Shiver would like to know how exactly you came to be a Moderator?
A: I became a Help Desk Operator shortly after Riserva's rise to power, in 2010 possibly? I don't remember dates that well. Then at the start of the round I was invited by BSF, Riserva, Mika and Aldarion to become a Moderator.
Q: Our next question is a bit more personal Accuso wanting to know what your life’s ambitions are? And don’t reply with you want to be the president.
A: Depressingly, I haven't really decided what my life ambitions are. I'm still reasonably young, I've got time to figure it out... Right?!
Q: Talking about personal, Azazel wants to know your secrets! Specifically, he wants to know what your biggest BL related secret is?
A: My biggest BL secret, I suppose, is having worked out exactly how much experience points is required for each rank. I could tell you, but I'd have to ban you.
Next up we have a couple of quick-fire food and drink related questions:
Q: Two4TheMoney – What pizza do you like?
A: Pepperoni
Q: Aberdeen – Bagels or toast?
A: Toast
Q: Kelevra – What is your favourite fictional beer?
A: Duff, obviously
Q: pimpdaddypump – If you could be any flavour of popsicle, what would it be and why?
A: Cardboard. Best flavour ever.
Q: Back to the game related questions. DtoxLTD wants to know how you feel about BSF's conduct in regards to the players, their confidence in BL and his respect for them?
A: I feel while BSF doesn't necessarily have the best communication, we ought to be realists. He's a busy man in real life, as are many of us, and he cannot dedicate all of his time to Bootleggers. I'm sure it's not unreasonable to say real problems take priority. In an ideal world, he wouldn't be alone in the red, but there may be mitigating circumstances I'm not aware of.
Q: Gun and Shiver combined together to formulate the following questions about what you think are the reasons behind the dwindling amount of active users and what could be done to rectify this?
A: In all probability the dwindling number of players is down to the playerbase growing up and moving on. Text-based games aren't as popular as they used to be, especially in the wake of image-based or Flash-based games so there are fewer new players, and with retirement having become rife, it's to be expected. But those we are left with are dedicated enough to keep the game fun.
Q: Kelevra wants you to describe in 200 words, which crew you think is the best and why? (excluding EG)
A: In my humble yet valuable opinion, Event Horizon have proven time and time again that they are one of the most valuable Crews in the game, having been consistently present on the Statistics for as long as I can remember. Their sum total of enemies, wars, and properties show they have the dedication, skill, and patience to dominate. Goodness knows, once they are able to contend for State Don spots, they will certainly dominate those too. Hmm, still need another 120 words… Rick Roll! Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you, never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye, never gonna tell a lie and hurt you. We've known each other for so long, your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it, inside we both know what's been going on, we know the game and we're gonna play it, and if you ask me how I'm feeling, don't tell me you're too blind to see. Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you, never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye, never gonna tell a lie and hurt you!
Q: The next question is from mastergenie6. He wants to know what update in recent history would you reverse and why?
A: I appreciate the concept of the Witness Statements but the certainty makes them largely useless. Perhaps if they could be further integrated into the game, through points options perhaps, they would become effective, but as they stand right now, if I could wave a magic wand, I'd reverse that update.
Q: After all the seriousness, I would like to change the topic back to something more light-hearted. _BoomGunShot_ wants to know who you like more, Alda or Mika? And no sitting on the fence
A: Neither, they're both total douche bags.
Q: CookyPuss remembers a picture of you wearing a shoe as a hat. He wants an explanation and I want to see the picture if you have it?!
A: Got no idea what CookyPuss is talking about there. He must be high.
Q: When I was a kid my hero used to be Superman because he was…well Superman! Azazel would like to ask you who was your childhood hero?
A: Josiah Bartlet, Democrat. President of The United States of America. Well he would've been if The West Wing had aired when I was a child.
Q: Just a couple more questions and we’re all done. SwiftShot wants your opinion on where you see BL being in 5 years’ time.
A: In all honesty, in exactly the same condition it's in now.
Q: And to I would like to finish with Mika wanting your dishonest opinion on the game?
A: It has easily been the best waste of 9 years ever.
I hoped everyone enjoyed this Q&A session and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sky for his time and for being such a good sport.
