New Beginnings Magnesium

For the first time this round I logged in and got the dreaded "You've been Killed" message. Indeed, it has changed somewhat since I remember it right back in the day where it was a picture of grim reaper standing there but still enough of a grim nature was cast by it's replacement. So my first thought is who would do this and as ever, that little box suggesting I enter a new username got the better of me (not that I was considering quitting of course) and so I typed Magnesium, in keeping with my element theme. I then got to use about the only useful update and transferred my friend list. Thumbs up to BSF for that one, it was a great idea! First of all on logging in I noticed that Padrinos Palace was still on the stats but I knew that there was little or no hope of retrieving our spot.

We searched around for a while to find the witness statements that enabled us to find who had killed us and discovered who the shooters were but were no closer to the cause. Whilst the killers had killed everyone in the crew apart from those banned they left a single scum. He ranked over the days but before reaching boss was killed and this leads me onto the Witness Statements. Had we been able to find a reliable witness statement of our ranking scum we may have been able to determine the causal link. I know that many are frustrated with the witness statements and many have been questioning whether they work at all. Indeed, I have received multiple which are 90%+ and are completely wrong yet rarely receive one which is 90%+ and right. I know that BettyB has written in the past for The Buzz about her frustration with this. The game feels somewhat weighted towards the lone wolf rather than the collective crews. You can wipe an entire crew with one player if they have enough resources which I see as somewhat unlikely to happen in a real mafia scenario.

However, BSF has already told us that there will be a crew update and we must therefore hold our breath that this helps to readdress the balance. A wise man once said "If you wish to get the measure of a man, don't judge him by how he treats his equals, judge him on how he treats his inferiors". I believe this is a good reflection on a player, to see if those Legendary Dons still treat a scum with as much respect as they would someone higher. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting higher ranks should give handouts (in fact, I am of the opposite opinion) I am merely suggesting that even a polite reply in the forum or a BootMail declining them for an OC. I am pleased to say that I have found the majority of the community polite to a newly ranking scum and I have given them no reason not to be as calling people 'Sir' has become quite perfunctory to me.

I will round this somewhat random account of various views and happenings with a quick thanks to those who have taken the time to OC with me and by doing so, supported my crew.

Until next time ,

Happy Ranking!
