Magnesium, aka Sulphur, is part of The Buzz team for quite a few week now. This week I had an interview with him. It’s a short one, but a good one!
Magnesium, could you please introduce yourself to The Bootleggers Community?
I'm Magnesium, previously Sulphur, Boss of Padrinos Palace and Buzz writer. My real name is Andy and I'm from the UK.
Are you at school or are you a hard working man?
I'm at University, second year.
What do you study?
Music and Computing.
What the hell is that?!
I get asked that a lot! Half a music course, half a computer science course and a bit of programming computers to play music by a set of rules etc.
Can you become a lawyer or accountant with that study?!
Probably purely computing. Mainly because being a musician is quite a tricky profession to make a reliable sum of money etc. Plus I can do that in my spare time should I wish.
Do you play an instrument?
Sax, flute, drums and piano.
What’s your favourite one?
Sax I guess, been playing it for about 9 years now!
Why sax?!
Not sure, I just always like it.
Have you ever heard of the saxo guy?!
Who?
The song: George Michael - Careless Whisper. That must be your favourite song?!
Haha, whilst I can actually play that bit (after multiple requests from friends) I'm not a huge fan of the song it's self.
What is your favourite song?
No idea, so many excellent songs of so many different genres its hard to single one out I'm afraid!
Why did you pick the study Music? Isn't it a risky study? I mean, getting a job, is it easy with that study?
Well because I have computing I will actually come out with a BSc and therefore not a bad degree. The music is because I've played music all my life and it’s a big part of my life. And computing is my other passion really.
At what age did you discover your music passion?
I've been reported as wiggling to music since I was about 1 year old. Played recorder in school, then started flute, then started sax, then drums and piano!
What's the most difficult instrument to play?
Difficult to say. They all have their own tricky parts. With Drums especially doing a conflicting rhythm with each of your limbs is often quite tricky and physically demanding. Sax and flute are much more technically demanding.
Alright! Bootleggers time now. What's your opinion of the current state of Bootleggers?
Hmm, I'm actually a little disenchanted with it all at the moment. I've played many rounds and whilst I see the game getting better we seem to have hit a block where nothing is updated or developed. I understand the reasons behind it with BSF having to do it all. Even still, It does push players away from the game. Whilst I'm still playing because I have a wonderful crew I could see if you had less you may just not bother signing up again after being killed.
What makes Padrinos Palace so wonderful?!
It's a great crew to be boss of. Our values help us to recruit some of the best BL players. But then, I may be slightly Biased! We're a crew who have no real quarrels or qualms with any crews on BL which makes it a real pleasure to represent it. When problem arise we do our best to resolve them peacefully.
Have you been part of other crews?
Nope, just Padrinos Palace.
After that question we had to run for our lives, since a huge tornado was coming. Both of us went offline and we haven’t spoken since then. Thank you very much Magnesium and till next week in another Meet The Buzz Team!
