A troll is defined as: A person who, on a message forum of some type, attacks and flames other members of the forum for any of a number of reasons such as rank, previous disagreements, sex, status, ect. A troll usually flames threads without staying on topic, unlike a "Flamer" who flames a thread because he/she disagrees with the content of the thread. With this definition in mind we will be analysing some of our more active forum posters. Those that are accused of trolling on a daily basis to decide if they are actually a troll or not.
Our first subject shall be blackkettle, better known as Klere. He was kind enough to answer some questions for the Buzz team and shed some light on his forum posts! He explained to us “A troll's purpose is to get random people angry, which is not a goal of mine.” He went on to shed some light into other peoples thoughts on his actions: “they do not see the difference between a real troll and an anti-troll. I am more of an anti-troll, as I seem to piss off people who're actually trying to troll others. And because I react on attention seekers and I never throw random insults when trolls start offending me. So in fact the main reason is that people do not know the definition of a real troll!”
Interesting stuff. But, I hear you ask, what happens when a troll decides to stop being a troll? Does that mean an anti-troll, which continues to harass the person who used to troll, is now the troll? Klere shared some thoughts on this difficult question too: “If a troll decides to stop trolling, I will not act nice immediately but I'll still treat him as a troll for a short period of time, hoping it's enough to make him not go back to his trolling days. That's still anti-trolling in my eyes. If this person then truly changes his behaviour, I have no further problem with him/her. I would appreciate it if people stop trolling/act like gangsters. And as long as there's those arrogant fucks around, I'll keep on doing things like I do now!”
However there is a deeper issue here! As we all know, a troll continues to troll people because they respond! So surely an anti-troll just gives them more fuel? But that is not the case! “A troll will always fine an easy victim who'll be offended/annoyed by what this troll does. And this troll will try to get him angry and will probably succeed. That's what I try to avoid by reacting on this troll as first. If I'd be entirely sure there'd be nobody caught by trolls, I wouldn't be acting like this. But as long as there are people like that, I'll keep on trying to make this troll realise that what he does is far from a cool thing, but just something to hide their personal problems behind.”
So it seems like Klere's actions are actually quite noble at heart! He did share some final thoughts with us on the subject, “I do not only act slightly offensive towards trolls, also towards people who're posting how amazing any kind of drugs are. This game's also played by younger , underaged people. Most of them have never used drugs in their entire life, yet you have those 18+ junkies thinking it's awesome to smoke pot/snort some lines/drink till you're semi-dead and so on ...
The only reason I point out they're stupid, is to avoid kids will think drugs ARE good for you and will only make you feel better. The best way to do that, is to make them notice how retarded those people who brag about their use of drugs are! As a final message, I would like to ask all people who like to troll and annoy other people just for their fun to stop trolling around and find a decent hobby. You do not know most people in real life, and some people might get really emotional if you say certain things, and that shouldn't be a goal to achieve.”
So there you have it!Klere is actually a very noble, almost saint like person, who is only trying to defend the Bootleggers community, especially those who are underage! So a message to all those trolls out there: watch out! Klere is on the case! And to anyone who sees themselves, like Klere, as an anti-troll, you can safely leave him alone as he is doing the exact same job as you!
