With the average money per player being around $1.8 million, why is there an abundance of people begging? Yes money rises and falls to gambling but surely any player with intelligence will bank enough cash to keep them going before they start gambling?
I have wondered about this for some time now and I keep having to ask myself how hard is it to make enough money for that first OC? So over the past 5 days I have worked hard doing crimes, GTAs and booze runs to see if these beggars in the BL community have a reason to ask the hard working members for money.
I've found that it can take a while in order to OC but with some dedication and perseverance it's very easy to do. Within two days I had 20k and had stolen a Duesenburg which would make it nice and easy for someone to find an organised crime with a good percentage. With this I decided to change my previous experiment. Instead of 'how long it would take to OC' I chose to do 'how much money can you make in a week without doing any organised crimes'.
Whilst doing this I invited a couple of beggars who are known around the site to explain why they beg and get to know them and what they want to see changed on the site. While most that I messaged didn't reply one person who asked for me not to mention their name did reply and gave some insight into what goes on behind the scenes with beggars. This member had been playing for 8 years and by their words only asked for money “sometimes”. I asked where the money he makes from the OC's, which he has begged money for, goes at the end of the day to which his reply was short and simple “stock market and casinos”. I also asked another person, named Flipper who often asked for money off players, the same question and he replied saying that he “used the money on gambling and OC's and I ask daily.”
On the topic of how easy is it to get money from begging the anonymous respondent said that it normally took them around “5 messages” to different people to get the money which they were begging for. However Flipper said that it depended on the day and the mood of the people he was asking. Sometimes it would take only a couple of people before he was sent the money yet on other days no matter how many people he messaged he would get nothing.
I asked whether they felt like the Bootlegger community should be doing more for people on low money and surprisingly both suggested that no more should be done. However they both said that there should be more help for those who really need it. In my opinion this help should be just for the people who are starting; for that scum who wants to rank and make that first bit of money in order to save and use the bootlegging part of the game better! I mean how many people on here would want to go back to bootlegging moonshine?
So back to the experiment over the 5 days that I have been just doing crimes, GTAs and booze runs at the time of typing this I have made a stunning $148,347. Reading that figure you may assume I have spent the entire time on BL just doing crimes and not doing anything else. However this is not true I have been on BL less time than normal due to real life commitments.
So what is the answer here? In my opinion it is quite simple, the players who work hard for their money (or gamble and win) should stop giving people who beg for money to OC as they should be able to make their own money or be smart enough to save their money. All they end up doing is losing it gambling or making bad judgments on the Stock markets! Will this happen? I doubt it... For example when I asked the anonymous source for the article if I could use their name they answered with “No I don't mind but can I have $33,333” when I said that sadly I could not help, due to the fact that I had been doing this experiment and as such didn't have the money to spare that day he replied with “well don't use my name”.
However I have proven to myself, and the rest of the Bootleggers community, that you don't need to beg to once you have started! All you need is a few days of hard work and perseverance which took at most 5 hours per day on my part! So my advice to you is stop begging and get to work!
