This week has been a busy one on the staff-front of Bootleggers! We seen the departure of one Help Desk Operator – FDS, more commonly known as Devhead or FlyingZombieSquirrel along with two new arrivals in IamPothead and Younv5, more commonly known as just Youn. In this article, I will attempt to bring to you the thoughts of Youn and try to give an insight into the player and how he will approach the new job.
For those of you who don't know Youn, he is an old school player who has been around since near enough the beginning of bootleggers – starting in April 2004. He is a well known player with quite a reputation. Throughout his years on the game, he has been a part of crews such as The Clenched Fist and Famiglia Taratore! For those who have been around for as long as Youn, you may also remember the crew, The Spartan Warriors. This was Youn's crew and they have quite a respectable reputation.
Moving on with the interview, we asked Youn what his thoughts were on his new promotion and if he was enjoying wearing the yellow jacket? He told us, “I do like the new role. I've always had an urge to help people where possible. I just have some extra tools to do this now and people approach me sooner with their questions now. Basically nothing major has changed, it's just a bit easier now. To be honest it wasn't something I expected. Pothead was promoted a few hours before me and I figured that would settle the team.” Very modest! We asked if he was surprised he got the job? He said, “Yeah, appearantly the mods have the tradition to prank people before they offer them the HDO job and I fell for it pretty badly.” We wanted to know more about this prank, Youn continued, “It happened just after EH got reimbursed. (We got our ranks, equipment, cash back). Sky approached me asking how I exploited money earlier, claiming there where no records of this in the database. I was pretty confused at that point so I tried to explain it had something do with with the reimbursements. He just said I was lying and gave me two options. Either go Ban on Sight and, after I tried to explain my side again he offered option two "spending the rest of my days helping people at the Help Desk".” Very funny Sky, you should be ashamed, tricking people like that!
We asked Youn if he had any personal plans now that he has joined the staff team and if he would do things any differently from the other Help Desk Operators? He told us, “Not really. I will approach the game the same way as before, I just have a few more tools to answer peoples questions now.” We asked if Youn had any advice for those who are wanting to contribute to the game and maybe one day be able to wear the yellow jacket like him self! He gave us some sound advice, “Apply to the Buzz team!” We realised this was a joke as he continued, “Seriously, if you wish to become an HDO at some point just try to be polite and helpfull where you can. It's all the advice I can give.” Fair comments! We had a bit of seriousness for Youn ourselves! We told him that the Buzz is currently looking for new writers, and he could apply if he wished? He said, “I've actually considered writing some buzz stuff, so I'll throw in some advertising in here, you people better apply as a writer.” We thanked him for the advertisement and agreed that people should do as he says – and apply for the Buzz!
Our final question for Youn was, if given the chance, would he give up his playing rights and take the next step in the staff ladder by becoming a moderator? He said, “Good question, I'm really not sure what i would do. Actually I still enjoy the playing part, so it would be a difficult decision. Pretty sure there's enough green guys for now so I'll just do my yellow thing for now.” We thanked Youn for his honesty and also for the interview!
We at the Buzz wish Youn the very best of luck for the future and his yellowness. With one HDO stepping down after two were promoted, will we see another addition to the squad in the coming days/weeks? Only time will tell.
