New HDO - IamPothead Sheesha

So this week we didn't just have one new addition to the HDO team, we had two. So who is this mysterious player named IamPothead? Well IamPothead, or Danny as he is known by in world outside of BL, answered a few questions for the Buzz so that he could be introduced to the portion of the community that hasn't met him in the eight years of him being on the site. To begin with we started looking at the person on the other side of the computer, he told us that not only does he have a wide variety of hobbies including some extreme sports and playing darts on a regular basis, he also has two children which in his words are “his world” so you can wonder how he could find time with such a hectic life to play Bootleggers.

However he obviously does as he has been a member of a lot of crews during the time that he has been playing, including his first crew called The Revolutionary Front and a number of others including EH, TPR and The Rapture until where we find him now in J.A.I.L.. We asked him out of all of these crews which was his favorite and for what reason, because everyone with this much history within crews would have to have developed some fond memories. He told us “As for my favorite it is J.A.I.L. honestly, I have been buster for a long time that is just the thing I like to do most on BL and a crew full of busters is perfect for me.”

So onto the thing we are all here for how he became a HDO. IamPothead felt that: even though he was asked, he still didn't know why he was chosen to become a HDO. Due to thinking that he needed to be more involved on the forums and because of the risqué nature of his name the Mods might have overlooked him. However, thankfully, they didn't. From ShyGuy we knew that the mods often play a prank on new HDOs before asking if they would like the job. So we asked if this had happened to him and his response was not what we were hoping for, he decided that he would keep the details to himself saying “Yes Mika got me good I must say but I am not sure I should go into full details, I don't want to ruin it for the next person”. Maybe this is crueler than the prank that Mika played on him by causing another unsuspecting victim to fall for the same joke, only time will tell.

We then delved a little deeper into one of the reason why he felt like he would never be chosen, his name. The name IamPothead by some could be seen by some as an inappropriate name so we asked him what he felt on the subject and he said that he felt like it was a catch 22 on the one hand as a father it wasn't something he felt was appropriate but on the other “as a full grown adult who also has his own beliefs I don't see why it is inappropriate”.

So what is life like as a HDO? We asked whether he felt it was exactly how he had anticipated it or different in any way and his reply was “I am finding it not too much different then it was before only have to watch the forums a little more and pay attention to the help desk now. It is pretty much as I expected more people Bming me asking me things, automatically get hated by some of the community now just cause I am yellow now and more stuff to do with watching the forum more and answering tickets”. We delved deeper into the people who have automatically decided to hate him after four days of being in the job, he suggested that these people were more angry at those who managed to catch them doing things that they shouldn't, such as breaking the TOS and getting banned, or muted, so wanted to blame him rather than taking responsibilities for their actions.

So are there any further aspirations? Could we see IamPothead being a Mod at some point in the future and is that even what he would want? He has said that as he didn't think that he would ever get to HDO he didn't feel like Mod is anywhere on the horizon or even something that he would be good at and that he is very happy manning the help desk for the time being.

As a final comment he said “thanks to all who support me in this and I am going to do my best to do as a HDO is supposed to do.” We at the Buzz wish him the best of luck in his new role and hope that the community will give him the respect, which comes with his position, and that he has clearly earned. Once again a big congratulations to IamPothead.
