We all know that Witness Statements are faulty. If a shooter chooses the correct time to shoot then almost none get sent out. By shooting only one or two accounts there are almost never witness statements and the ones that do go out have several names. It is so bad that you can't trust the percentages as we've all seen a ninety nine percent witness that was wrong and a one percent witness that was correct. So what is the point of the current system?
The point is that if one killer takes out thirty-forty accounts then they are accountable. Enough of the statements go out that the crew can easily find out who shot them and take revenge appropriately. But what can a crew, or anyone, do when only a few accounts are killed? The real answer is not a lot! But what can be done to balance this out? If the witness statement system was one hundred percent accurate then would people still kill? If someone within the crew receives a witness to say your member was killed by XYZ then what is the point? Anyone who kills anyone would be killed in revenge unless they had a good reason.
Is a solution to send out less statements with only two possible names? A higher chance of finding the killer, but less chance of finding a statement. More witness statements with only two names? The witness statement becomes less valuable and redundant. With so many accounts being taken out this week, it is important that the shooter remains anonymous for long enough to finish their kills. But is that right? In the real World Mafia one person would struggle to kill so many people. However in Movies it happened. Just watch Scarface!
It's a difficult problem, without an easy or obvious solution. So many people will shoot during their time playing the game that there has to be a balance. If you shoot and then die straight away then there is almost no point. However if you wipe a crew (or three) you know your going to die so in those cases it doesn't matter. Yet everyone knows there are issues with being in a crew. Your paying lots of money to shout out where you are.
Another question arises: "If I get a witness, what do I do with it?" No one wants to sell a false witness. Unless its to an enemy of yours. Then your happy to sell a false one. But a few players recently have received a witness and then told the killer "I know it was you, pay me or I'll share it." Which, as most of you will know, is a big mistake. The killer can shoot you and you have no proof to take to the victims. By contacting the shooter your basically painting a bullseye over your head.
So what can new players do? If you receive the witness there are a few tips the Buzz can provide. If you're in a crew, send it to your crew boss straight away. If you're not in a crew find a trusted player, someone who you absolutely trust one hundred percent, and send the witness to them before contacting the shooter. Or contact the victim and ask for a fair reward. Negotiate with them and they can discuss how much they will pay. Giving a witness to a victim does not make you a Nark, it keeps the game going allowing revenge to be taken for the fallen.
Hopefully, this advice will help a few of you and aid the community to understand that it isn't easy to correct the faulty system. But what can be done to fix the system? We all know Sky has been tweaking a lot of minor features, and they are all great! But is this something Sky can tweak and fix? Or is it a bigger issue? And how do you think Sky should fix it? It's all well and good saying "Please fix the Witness Statement system" as many of you do on the forums, but how exactly can he fix it without making the system redundant? As always, your thoughts are appreciated!
