My experience working in an underground crew is positive to say the least. I found myself in one within the first two weeks of playing Bootleggers. They called themselves, No Redemption, and as you notice, we are now an official crew. Although this may be my success story about operating within an underground organization gone legit, I have a dire warning for the establishment and all underground crews that may have sinister goals.
By the time I was a gangster, I was lost. My attempt at joining an established crew did not go so well. I had to learn a good lesson from it. Yet, I wanted to belong to one like many players on Bootleggers. Here I am with no reputation fighting for a chance at getting an OC with people that I had no way of trusting. I had to take initiative to make a positive reputation for myself.
There had been rumors on the Classifieds, which I like to think of on the streets as the "Grapevine," that underground crews were making their sinister goals met by muscling in on the established crews to take over their slots. Yet, I found myself making contacts through what was known as the time as, No Redemption. The UG crew, headed by nomercy, seemed to contrast my bias towards the very notion of an underground society. These guys had no desire to disrespect other players for their own selfish needs. We were interested in making money and staying alive, and that honestly had attracted me to No Redemption considerably. Luck would have it that I became part of this team and pretty soon, our peace keeping diplomacy got us into a crew slot by means of compromise and negotiation.
The best thing an underground crew needs to do is stay alive and that means creating powerful allies with established crews. This is a fine example that underground crews can be a positive force and not a sinister one on Bootleggers. If an underground crew decides to take a crew by force, they are burdened with losing their accounts to gunfire and this also goes for established crews. The problem with senseless violence, ambitiously attacking other players, never results in a successful run in anything we in the Bootleggers life. The "eye for an eye" may be a traditional view of Bootleggers game play, but like with all things, revenge is a dish best served cold. The problem is collateral damage. You gain enemies instead of friends, and no protection or weapon can save you when a legendary Don, who just so happens to have a beef with you for your actions taken against his friends. We are Bootleggers, we put real time into this game. Aren't we better suited at doing well and making money? The old ways of doing things had the understanding that crews are better served when they are interested in making money, not headlines. That is why No Redemption is now an established crew. Our UG standing allowed us to gain some power amongst ourselves to be a force for good. As a result, we became a real crew within a matter of weeks without any wasted bullets and bloodshed. More importantly, we earned the respect of others through our actions.
The underground crews can lurk beneath the surface, but not all of them have sinister purposes. Established crews have the real power behind them, generally. Underground crews must respect that power if they want their own power to be respected, especially if they take over a crew slot some day. The old motto goes, "Do unto others as what you want done to you." That principle is the essence of nomercy's, No Redemption, that attracted me to it, without knowing where it would go. We have our own vision, we are not sorry and we have no mercy. But players can understand that one has no mercy for things they did not do wrong. We are a crew with the right principles, and we do not apologize for it. We are No Redemption.
