This week we saw Sky's best (certainly our favourite) update so far: The Buzz writers are now blue on the users online page!
The reason behind this has numerous explanations. Firstly as a Buzz writer we are all expected to act in a way that the staff would. Which means that we have to be polite and helpful on all of the forums and discuss topics with respect. Also as any of you reading this who have had interviews with one of us you may realise, that before this update came into existence, you had no way of being sure that who were answering was in fact a Buzz writer and not someone who wanted inside information about you.
We at the Buzz are very grateful for this addition, however some in the forums weren't so happy. For example a topic was made in the Game Forum called “I don't like this blue!” This was made by Tesselate who started off with the message saying “It makes them seem special! Take it off!”. The result of this was a long topic of other people disagreeing with the implications of this update including SkeggiThePinik, who stated: “I am starting to agree. Remove the blue color. It is useless and they are not special of any kind in the game. They are only buzz writer and there is no reason to classify them on the users page.”
Which we would like to clarify to everyone who has this opinion explaining that we do something for the game, rather than just play and complain about updates and moderators, we give up our (slightly) valuable time bringing you the latest news on the site to the best of our abilities.
One of our newest writers for the Buzz, Santo, had this to say on the topic in response to Tesselate, “Buzz is staff without special powers. That makes us 'Special people'. Special people who've played bootleggers for so long now that they get bored and want to interact more with the game and its community.”
So with that we would hope you all now understand why we have become blue. From all us Smurfs (and smurfette) we thank you, Sky!
