On the very first day of round 7, we were introduced to a new feature implemented by BSF2000 himself; the gym. The feature was set in place originally in an attempt to stop people from duping and having multiple accounts to instantly shoot from. Before round 7, to make a kill it was simple, all you would have to do is buy the correct gun and train it before you could buy the next one, to eventually take down your target in the form of bullets (the better the gun, the less bullets needed.) To upgrade your protection you would simply buy them in corresponding order. This has all changed.
The new gym system is simple, yet effective and it has caused massive controversy through out the game, some people for the feature and some against it. Those who are for it, agreed that this did help stop people from duping and those against it found the time and effort you now had to put into a shoot-out to be ridiculous and not worth it. With the newly implemented feature, in order to get that next gun or protection that you long to yearn for, you must put in countless hours of effort, training your strength, agility and stamina in the gym. This was indeed a painstaking ordeal, taking forever to be able to reach the maximum gun and a lot of people complained about it, even those who liked the feature. Seeing as there was such a massive divide coming from the people who were for and against the feature, with both parties having a strong case for an argument, the Elite Guard took the feature by the horns and updated it in an attempt to bring balance to the argument.
The feature was updated on Friday 07/12/2012, just a couple of days ago. What has changed? Gym levels needed for guns and protections have been adjusted (as well as gun training hours). Overall work required to increase gym levels has been lowered. Stamina now reduces timers for Crimes (-1 second every 2 levels), Auto Burglary (-1 second every level), and Organized Crime (-2 minutes 15 seconds every level). You can find all this information on the updates page. As soon as the update went live, The Buzz created a topic in the Game Forum, to find out what the people thought about this new update, did this finally create balance for both parties who were arguing for and against the gym update? Let's find out what our wonderful community had to say.
The Buzz appreciates it when players put their opinions forward to us, unfortunately not every one can be quoted for the Buzz, but here are some of the players opinions! Integro told us, “I like the new update, not everybody has a equal chance. To bad the crews are still not updated.” Very interesting, so this now seems like crews could be more of a target to underground shooters, without the new upcoming crew update! Let's see what SquareRootOfThree had to say, “I think it's good. The original gym update was a good one IMO, but the balance was off, and it brought it to the point you have to play a ridiculous amount to actually do anything. I don't know for sure if the balance is there or not now, but this movement is in the right direction. How does anyone expect this game to attract/keep new players when you needed hundreds of hours to shoot back at someone who killed you? That's way too easy for someone to get frustrated and quit.” Another player who thinks that the update is moving the game in the right direction! CunnyFunt told us, “To be honest, I think this is good. It shouldn't be made harder to get your stats up, the shooting should be changed along with crew protection. Because to be honest, the fact that one person could potentially wipe the whole stats page is appaling. The game really needs a big update in a number of things, you can't just change the shooting system without making changes to the rest of the game, unless you are lazy. I think the way the gym is adequate. I'm looking forward to seeing what Sky will be doing for the game. He has already done a brilliant job but something bigger needs to be done to the game.” Another hint at the crew update but still another positive reply!
A5K was eager to get his point across, “Well I guess what they are trying to accomplish here is that you get 3 types of players. (a) offensive/aggresive (b) rankers (c)defensive. I like the fact that you can train your account to suit your strategy, but the game already has these categories, being: UG (offensive) and crews (defensive). But crewmembers never hit the gym only to upgrade their protection, they also train strength as that give them the ability to bootleg. So Crewmembers are all over the place strategy wise, whereas UG shooters dont care about Agility and they dont have to! Together with the fact that this game is already out of balance, due to the vulnerability of crews, will mean that the UG shooters will only get a bigger advantage if the kill system itself goes unchanged. So I like the change, but this asks for the change of the crew/kill system to be a higher priority.” Yet another player, telling us they think that the crew update(s) need to come as soon as possible for this gym update to be a successful one. We at the Buzz certainly think that both additions will gel together perfectly and can't wait to see what the Elite Guard have in store for us, regarding crews.
Yet again, we are left in turmoil as to whether to feature will be a success or not, mostly every one agreeing it should be, but only when we see an update for crews! When will we see this update? Hopefully very soon, be sure that when it does happen, though, the Buzz will have it covered.
