Care To Shoot My Crew? Caecus

In this article I will look into the current state of crews looking at the pros and cons of being a crew member. With a radicle overhaul of the crew system forecast, is this the time to get yourself on the statistics page to reap the potential benefits? Or will joining a crew always be in effect, a hitlist spot you pay for that allows your potential killers to easily monitor you and your members?

Having spoken to crew bosses, Moderators, experienced individuals and the general Bootleggers community it is apparent that the current crew system is in a word, stagnant. It provides no real reward or stimulation to reach for the Statistics page other than a potential to stock bullets into the crew if you are fortunate enough to own a Bullet Factory. We at the Buzz spoke to current Help Desk Operator and long-term player YounV9, former Boss of crews such as The Spartan Warriors in rounds gone by. He was quick to establish his view on the current system saying “Being a stat crew has been labelled as a hitlist that cost you money to be on and I can only agree on that.” Going on to say, “Whether a crew spot is an advantage over underground crews, my answer would be a no.”

Having gathered a general consensus that users are not happy with the current system and the overhaul announcement for the crew system being announced recently, we then took the time to steal a word with Moderator Aldarion. We started by asking about the potential impact of the upcoming update, to which he responded, “Right now we have no definite idea of what the new feature will look like.” Perhaps giving an indication of the time we will have to wait for such an update, however Aldarion did go on to say, “I assume it makes sense to believe the crew feature will not reach the same effect as being UG” going on to say, “However, it is likely that around the update some small tweaks will be made to other features as well making it impossible or at least extremely unlikely that a single shooter can kill off a crew.”

With these comments being made, this could be taken as an indication of the potential impact of the proposed overhaul. With underground crews and groups being a key feature of this round, the new update could see them needing to be even more organised in their antics if they are to continue killing from the shadows in the same impact as they do now. It would however not effect killings such as the wealth wipes carried out by Asura in this round. Still giving the UG crew an impact factor that a statistics based crew may never have.

So, in the time we now spend waiting for the updates to formulate and take shape, will you be putting yourself on the statistics for all to see, or remaining in the background a mere spectator? Time will tell the effects updates will take, but for now crews come and go like customers at a convenience store! Yet the convenience store remains busy and touted for, interesting to say the least.
