Welcome to another issue of Behind the Name where we take a look at some of the Bootleggers community and find out a bit more about them. This week we are joined by Swish, currently a member of Dirty Busters and fellow member Pebble aka Fraggy. We started off with Swish and our first question, as always, was how long he has been playing for and what was the spark which ignited his interest in Bootleggers.
"I started playing about 5 or 6 years ago when a buddy of mine at work was playing and I saw the Keno page & asked him about it. He told me about the game and when I got home I signed up. I played for about a year but was killed a couple times randomly and I got busy and stopped. I came back about a year ago and have been here & active since." A similar story to many people but certainly an extensive length of time to be playing for. We asked Swish what his proudest moment was on Bootleggers so has been and he replied "Jeez, that's a tough one" which he is very correct about. "I'd say my proudest moment was winning my first bust comp, I don't remember what I won or who was in it but I do know it was a good moment for me". Another buster! Well you would expect nothing less from a player sporting the Dirty Busters livery!
Our conversation turned to what he enjoys doing outside of Bootleggers. "Outside of BL i like being outside with my dog in the woods, I watch a lot of hockey, I love to cook and I like playing Civ Revolution on my Xbox". All fine choices in our book! Having revealed his favourite non Bootleggers related activities we asked him what he enjoys doing within the game and received the response that we though we would! "I pretty much bust all the time." Swish told us. "The only reason I OC & stuff is to rank-up to improve my busting. Any money & win or make in the game gets donated or put into my own comps. I also enjoy our crew forum, great place to hang out when you're killing time in jail". As so much of his account time is spent busting we enquired as to whether this would be the source of his future ambitions for Bootleggers. "Yes for sure. I would like to live long enough to make it onto the top 10 for once. I had 2800+ busts on my first account but got shot by someone who ended up banned, I got my rank back but not my stats otherwise I feel I had a chance to be in the top 10. I'd like to just stay out of trouble and bust and see how far I can go." This is many peoples goal but as everyday proves, it's the keeping out of trouble that we find hardest!
Finally, as always, we asked him our quick fire questions. Favourite food was up first and we got one of top answers back again in the form of "Pizza!". The favourite film, whilst being a tough choice, was "The Usual Suspects" and our communities favourite question "Which is your favourite staff member?" was answered with "Gotta go with my man Ray, not for game-type stuff but because he's a friend!". A noble answer to a noble question.
We thanked Swish for his time and left him in Illinois Jail. We tracked down Pebble and found him lurking next to a large boulder. After he accepted our invitation to join us in the Buzz office we asked him, as normal, about his first steps in Bootleggers. "A guy I knew in real life told me I had to sign up during Beta testing. So I made an account and started playing. Have been playing since, might have missed a couple of rounds. I haven't been active all the time!". Yet another old school member. An interesting trend seems to be that the players often return even after a couple of years of absence! We wasted no time in asking such a seasoned player what his proudest achievement was and he replied "Well, that's an easy one, I was State Don last round!". Just like many players, rank plays a big part in everyones achievement portfolio! Once again we asked what were his hobbies and interests outside of the world of Bootleggers. "I'm an Apple fan boy, yeah I said it. Love everything about it and the gadgets you can get for it. That is why my name is Pebble now. (Pebble is an smartwatch that connects to your iPhone)
Euhm I kinda drink a lot and I like women, but who doesn't?
I like driving in my car, don't know why but I just like to drive around" Excellent choices! We at the Buzz love technology too!
Finally before we let the Belgian Pebble get back to his ranking we asked him if he could have one update made what would it be? "Well I made a Help Desk ticket so the Saved mail would be transferred when you die. Sky made that happen so I like that because I lost some important information the firs time I died. Love the Bust Party update of course, makes it a lot more fun and seems like more people bust now.
I hope killing gets updated and maybe something so crews have more advantages." As many people agree, it would be nice to see the kill system overhauled and Bootlegging, Bot-banishing, bug-busting Boss, BSF2000, has already told us that parts of it will be changed during the crew update.
With this we thanked our new friend Pebble and left him to it! And that brings another issue of Behind the Name to a close. I hope you enjoyed reading, I enjoyed writing and I wish you all the best of luck in your Bootlegging endeavours!
