Death Valley Returns! Pericles

The week in passing saw the return of a familiar crew name to our statistics page, that of Death Valley no less! It came as part of a change of name and color to the former Decadence crew spot. But what has really changed? The general structure of the crew and its members appeared to be relatively similar, so we caught up with Arcanine, also known as SilverTip, the crews Underboss, to establish what exactly was going on.

Some have questioned the change of name and color of this crew, as a potential cover-up move by Decadence former bosses, in a move to re-establish connections with Most Wanted while saving face at the same time. However this is apparently not the case, as we were informed of other reasons by the new Death Valley Underboss and former Decadence Boss Arcanine. He told us, "Basically it was down to the old bosses of Decadence decision to step down from leading the crew due to real life issues to which it left me in charge and although i loved the crew and its people i really did not want to run a crew this round." Going on to tell us, "So i approached Scandalous about his attempts to buy a crew which had been unsuccessful and we agreed to change Decadence into Death Valley once more." So a combination of factors has led to the return of Death Valley. It was noted before that many of Decadence's members had previously been associated with the crew, and therefore it can come as less of a surprising move to shift back to the name under which many members once served.

Having established the apparent reasons behind the change, we looked to delve a little deeper. The strained relations between Decadence and former associates Most Wanted were there for all to see, with most recent hits on Decadence coming as a result of a choice by Bosses to sever relations between the two. We wondered if this change of name looked to cement that position. However Arcanine was clear in saying, "I dont think the change of name was needed to do that if im honest." The loss of members and accounts still perhaps seen as enough of a show of the breakdown between the pair then. Will this however prove to be a thorn in the side of Death Valley, with strong links and much of their member base coming from Decadence, they may form as much of a target as the previous name!

With a similar member base and much of the Decadence council appearing to sit in similar positions within Death Valley, we went on to wonder how close the two were in their ambitions and aims within the remainder of the round. Arcanine disregarded this likeness however, telling us, "I dont think you can compare the goals of the two to be fair given that they are both completely different crews albeit with quite a few of the same members." Looking to further quash any likeness which may be drawn between the two crews. We went on to question what the goals of Death Valley would therefore be, and were told, "For now we are happy to be back on the stats and are just looking for all our old members."

That is all very well in the short term. But appeared to lack in terms of a long-term objective which the crew look to achieve. We questioned this again, and were told by Arcanine, "As I said before as of now we are happy to be back. Anything more than that could not be said at this time im afraid given we've only been back less than a day. Talk to me again in a few months and you might get a better answer." So for now, Death Valley look to do nothing more than re-establish their member base. However surely the members of the crew will look for some sort of aim or objective before a three month period if the crew is to survive what has proved of late to be a regular coming and going of crews from the Statistics? Is this a genuine lack of ambition, or a simple safe answer. You decide.

Our final question regarded Decadence. The crew has been the center of more than its fair share of action in recent weeks and months, so what of the crew and it's member now? Arcanine cleared things up, saying, "Some have already gone onto other things and others have stopped playing all together however the majority will be assimilated into Death Valley with the majority being in Death Valley previously." So it appears we have seen the last of Decadence for the time being at least. Bosses stepping down and users moving on to other things look to have seen the ending of the controversial crew. Will they resurface? We will have to wait and see. But for now, we welcome Death Valley to the statistics. The return of an old favourite for many, and one which will surely look to now establish itself in an ever-changing Bootleggers community. How they fare in this venture, remains to be seen.
