The Chat #2 Pericles

Issue #58 of the Bootleggers Buzz saw the introduction of The Chat, an article which seeks the views of a given user on all the hot topics of present, and sees us publish their views in the given issue of the Buzz! This week, our chat was with DerSnaak, someone with whom many will be familiar as he has graced the users online of Bootleggers for quite some time. DerSnaak is the current Boss of La Onda, one of the more long-term Statistics based crews of this round. We set to work getting DerSnaak's views on all the current issues we see on the game.

Our first question for DerSnaak concerned domination, a hot topic of the round, and one which divides the opinion of many. Having played for several years, there isn't much that DerSnaak hasn't seen. His opinion on domination? Well, "Well domination has always been here on bl, there will always be players/crews/underground crews that have more points, money and bullets than others do." Indeed it is not uncommon to see such domination, or indeed a strive for such a position, within the game. In early rounds it was sometimes achieved by stats based crews, with a shift to underground crews occurring over time. DerSnaak went on to say, "That will never change, you have domination in the form of bullet factories, only the strongest crews can hold them proper, a lot of crews have been shot over them. So its an risk as well to hold them, and if you look at domination for the entire game, it looks like the strong underground crews dominate Bootleggers." Indeed a fair assessment of the current state of the game. Bullet Factories, at current times, see thousand of bullets stacking within their walls. However they still prove a focal point when it comes to shootings, being deemed the most expensive and valuable single property within the game, fetching prices running into tens of thousands of points.

Another topic which has attracted some attention is the views on Bootleggers users, and whether it is true, as claimed by Mika among others, that the games community it becoming increasingly passive and that this in turn contributes to the ease some crews see when attempting to dominate the playing field. Did DerSnaak agree with this? Most certainly not, saying, "I don't think that's true, the strong dominating crews stay because no one dares to challenge them, you can't win from them so why try it." So, in the opinion of the La Onda Boss, it is not a question of pacifism, but one of realism, and without being able to fight something you cannot see or that may indeed not even result in success, why try? Many would challenge this view, however some would be sure to back it.

We moved on with our focus falling upon ranking. In the previous weeks Community Picks articles, we took a look into ranking and what could potential be changed regarding the subject. When asked if he felt the ranking system should be made easier, for reasons such as the lack of State Dons seen this round, DerSnaak provided a mixed answer, saying, "Well that's an hard question, if you make it to easy it wouldn't feel like an great accomplishment for the high ranks i mean." This feeling was largely reflected by the community when questioned on the subject. So however was DerSnaak's other point, as he went on to say, "But the cap between don and r.don is way to much, its over 100 ocs most of the times, that could be less ocs for sure if you ask me."

The conclusion of our time with DerSnaak saw us ask him what he saw the future of the game as being. His answer provided neither optimism nor pessimism, as he said, "Well i don't think the game will change that much , there mayby some upgrades or updates but i don't think it will change the game that much." So, that saw the close of our interview. Do you agree with the views of DerSnaak? Do your own opinions on these subjects differ? Perhaps you would like to be apart of The Chat in next weeks issue? We are always looking for willing chatters, but for now, we leave you with the views of the La Onda Boss to discuss.
