The Kill feature as a whole.
This is to get an overall picture from the teams as to whether they think the feature has improved, and whether it was the best choice of feature to be updated when there are others that could be updated.
The Buzz Team score: 4 Staff score: 4 Comment(s): Sky said “Undeniably there was a flaw in the way kill worked. Guns were far too easy to obtain, and you were punished for being in a Crew. Crew mates in the same state were automatically dragged in to shootouts, revealing their location and damaging their protection.”
Riserva said “I honestly believe that the Kill feature is much better now than it was before. It goes back to how it was originally designed and I think players will love using it.”
The removal of shootouts.
Shootouts have been removed as a part of the update and kill has reverted to more like how it used to be. This score also includes the removal of the feature that allowed crew members to be involved in attempts on crewmates.
The Buzz Team score: 4.3 Staff score: 4.3 Comment(s): Mika said “I myself liked the shoot outs, but they were not executed the way they should have been. Personally I feel it could have been worth considering to just recode the shoot out script so it worked properly. The positive thing of shoot outs is that, if coded properly, players have the option to return fire which makes it more dangerous to kill someone, especially if that player is in a crew.”
FlyingDeathSquirrel said “As realistic as it felt, and I thought it had a lot of potential, it just didn't work. In emergency situations, instead of crewmates being a huge help to stop a shooter, they just got injured. Until they can be tweaked to capitalize on having crewmates, I'm thrilled to see it go.”
Keeping suicide.
Despite the feature not currently being available, suicide will be making a return. However due to the fact it isn't here at the moment, I have decided to include it as a change, to see what is thought of the feature. This allows users to terminate their account, providing that they have $500 and/or 100 bullets.
The Buzz Team score: 3 Staff score: 3.3 Comment(s): Lethal said “I have no problem with suicide. If you feel it's your only option, then why not?”
Most other people just said I was an idiot for even including this, pointing out that it isn’t really a change.
The changes to witness statements.
As BSF2000 explained to the Buzz, “Now there are up to 10 witness statements send out. The total number and accuracy depends on the witness column on the search. The lower the number, the fewer and less accurate the witness statements and vice versa.” Witness statements can now also falsely accuse someone who didn’t perpetrate the kill, and they give a percentage certainty that the witness statement is correct.
The Buzz Team score: 4.1 Staff score: 4.6 Comment(s): Vanish said “I think this will bring a lot of commotion, and more killings because someone 'thinks' that another crew shot their crew, because he got a witness statement that can have 20% of truth in it.. It's a little complicated.”
FlyingDeathSquirrel said “I love this. It's the only defense shooters have when attacking targets. As far as I can tell, they're affected by your rank and skills, so they better the shooter, the more helpful a WS ends up becoming. The other nice thing is that it means there are no more crazy mass sprees by Bosses because they'll be far far easier to find than an LGF on a spree. WS has become another reason to rank up.”
AceAdam said “Adds a little twist to the game, can cause controversy and more crew wars. Always fun”
How quickly a player can be shot again after an attempt.
BSF2000 explained how the new system worked to the Buzz, saying “After a player has been shot, they basically run away and escape detection. Meaning searches that already found them will now have lost them and searches that were about to find them will now take longer. So yes they can be tried again immediately, but no search will currently have found them immediately. It'll take around 3-4 hours before they can be found again.” This means that players will now have to get it right first time or risk retaliation.
The Buzz Team score: 4.6 Staff score: 4.1 Comment(s): Sky said “This is a very good idea. It never sat right with me that people stayed where they were when they were shot, it's logical that if you survive an attack you run as far away as you can, and that means your attacker has to find you again. What's more it'll encourage shooters to overkill to ensure the kill is done first time, to avoid the hassle of another search.”
Lethal said “I like this, it'll give a victim a great chance to plan a fully fledged revenge attack. People can't afford to fail with this feature.”
Hitlist bootmails.
Only users that are ranked Assassin+ will now be notified by bootmail when they are placed on the hitlist. It used to be the case that all users received a bootmail when hitlisted, regardless of rank.
The Buzz Team score: 3 Staff score: 3.3 Comment(s): altrozero said “I would prefer to be told no matter what. I don't see what benefit people have checking the hitlist several time a day. It also encourages users to script which is always a bad idea.”
Riserva said “It just goes to the point where people with a status in the game get a Bootmail, which is how it should be”
FlyingDeathSquirrel said “If you don't have the rank, then you don't have the connections to hear about a hit being put out on you. This makes complete sense to me”
