Retaliation? No Sir, Not Today! Constans

This week in passing saw chalmang, more commonly known as Spencer and member of The Family go to work shooting several accounts, including recently promoted State Don RecycledLJ and several members of La Onda. But no retaliation was shown by the crew, as chalmang was allowed to spend time chatting in the forums and sit within Enemy of The State before eventually being taken out. But what had lead to this shooting and why were La Onda showing such grace to someone whom had just taken out several of its members?

But first of all, why La Onda? Official word could not be obtained as to why the crew had been targeted, however as always speculation was rife and the long-standing war between Event Horizon and The Family for whom chalmang shot in the name of has always been apparent. La Onda has been seen recently at least to of been housing one or two Event Horizon members and users speculated as to whether this had lead to the attack, combined with a potential lethal weapon in the form of their State Don.

However, the issue that takes our focus is the lack of retaliation shown by La Onda on this occasion along with other crews in the past. A crew should always have the best interests of their members at heart, and sometimes shootings of some nature are unwise. However to be seen to do nothing when several members of a crew you run are targeted is surely a sign of weakness and fear. There are many users and said leaders of crews who fear the likes of Asura and The Family, and when they fall into harms way during the shootings of these groups will shy away from shooting even the shooter, let alone attempting a wider spread revenge plan. Is this not a sad reflection on the leaders of these crews? Do you as members not wish to see action or at least some pride? If you were a crew Boss, how would you react to a shooting of your members?

There has been further occasions this round where crew members have fallen victim to sprees of various crews. But on these occasions too, the Bosses of said crews have been slow to react in terms of at least killing the shooter, for fear of it leading to further repercussions. This climate of fear or general lack of balls from Bosses is something which infuriates many, myself included. A crew should stand for its members, they are the core of crews and contribute to its everyday running and function in a way that knows no bounds. Yet we are increasingly seeing that some are so fearful of the more powerful groups in the game that they will effectively usher them along in their actions rather than be seen to be taking a stand! This may result in the longevity of a crew being increased but it can also be a factor which sees the respect of crews diminished.

Now of course, La Onda may not of been the victims of their own actions but rather those of circumstance as they fell to shootings this week. However, would you want to visit or become a member of a crew who do not avenge their own? Or stand next to someone in war when they are just as likely to flee as to fight? We cannot know all the facts behind this story, with the shady nature of The Family's work being a key to its long term success and a characteristic that doesn't look set to change. However, when people don't fight on behalf of their members a lot becomes clear in terms of the power and fear demographic of the game!
