Hello Sphinx. Please introduce yourself to the adorable Bootleggers Community! Hi, I'm Sphinx. I've been playing the game for quite a few years with some breaks in between. Started to become a forum whore/troll in later rounds, now I'm less of that but still contribute a lot to the forums.
That's awesome. You study/work in the real world? I'm a student at University of Manchester, currently studying Physics and in my first year. Don't do any actual work aside from studying, so I tend to have a lot of free time.
Why did you decide to study Physics? It wasn't the first thing I chose. First I studied a few months of Architecture at university, but realised it wasn't for me and that I'd rather drop out early and start a new course than be stuck in something I don't enjoy and realise it's too late to do anything about it. So after I quit Architecture I looked at what courses I enjoyed the most, it came down to Physics, Maths, and Comp Sci. I figured I'd find Comp Sci boring after a while, as I would with Maths, so I chose Physics. It's an extremely interesting and tough subject, I'm mostly interested in Quantum mechanics and theoretical Physics.
What kind of job can you get with your study? With Physics you can get tons of jobs, it's similar to a maths degree in how many fields of work it opens up. I could make a list, but that'd be long and pointless, it essentially is a good degree to have if you want to get into any field that doesn't require a specific degree(fields that require specific degrees are things like Medicine, Vet, Architecture, and so on). The jobs that'd actually be in the physics field are mostly research jobs, teaching jobs, and such. I have no idea what I want to do after I get this degree, but I guess it's a good thing I picked a degree that allows you to go into many job fields then.
True story. Back to your Bootleggers history. You said you became a forum whore/troll. Does that mean you were an uber serious player once? I wouldn't say 'uber'. But yeah, I played pretty seriously. I made pictures for decent income, and just tried to focus on ranking, never really posted much in the OTF aside from the "rate this" topics. I never joined any big crews or got involved in any big shootings, but other than that I was pretty seriously involved. Tended to get involved in scum hunts, not kill anyone that'd eventually lead to my death and such.
Why did you decide to become a forum whore/troll? I found it fun. It was fun to play with people and make them angry. Though I never did like insulting people for no real reason like others do, nowadays I mostly just go with the annoying approach which usually attracts the same few people.
What kind of motivation would you need to become a serious player again? I don't think there's any needed. I'm focusing on ranking again and not staying scum-thug rank. I did manage to get up to Godfather on my own this round before someone decided to randomly shoot me. I'll still be active on the forums, but I can do both.
That's truly awesome. Talking about Bootleggers, what's your opinion of the current state of the game? I think it's slowly getting a better, but has suffered a huge blow. The number of people currently playing is extremely low and doesn't seem to be increasing, and random shootings of high ranks is putting a lot of people off. Sky is doing a great job with updating the game though, adding more entertainment with things like uno, and other improvements. I'm not sure whether it can ever reach the player base it had, the game itself isn't actually worse than it was back then, it's just not nearly as popular.
Attracting new players is hard. How would you do it? Advertising is the main way. I remember there was a system where you'd get bullets for voting for BL on some mmorpg ranking game, but that hasn't happened in a while. Maybe even add a referral system, but that'd probably be abused by dupes I'm guessing. Another thing is the game needs to be more friendly to new comers, I'm not saying beggers should be accepted or anything like that, but plenty of new comers are killed when they reach a certain rank without any reason, I think that puts off people from actually playing.
I agree on all fronts. What's your opinion of BSF2000? I'm not entirely sure to be honest. He seems to be incapable of doing anything that makes anybody happy. I'm not saying he's bad at his job, I have no idea how much he's actually doing to improve the game, but when he does things like make deadlines for achievements and then fails to meet them twice, it gives him a certain reputation. He doesn't interact with the community which is always a bad sign, it doesn't take long to post a message in a topic every now and then, something like that would gain him a few reputable points. I think Sky is being the person BSF should be. He is regularly updating the game, he interacts with the community, he listens to peoples thoughts and improvement ideas. Again though, it's hard to say without knowing the actual work BSF is doing.
Seems legit. Alright, about your KPOP topic! Please explain our readers why you adore KPOP so much! My love for KPOP started a bit over 1 year ago. I was watching a gaming stream and every advert was either Bubble Pop by Hyuna or Run Devil Run by Girls' Generation. At first I hated it, but still listened as I didn't bother muting the stream at those times. After a while I looked up those songs on youtube and started listening to them, eventually I started to really enjoy listening to KPOP, so I searched for more. I'm not entirely sure how to explain why I love KPOP. I guess it's just I enjoy listening to it. I don't care about meaning behind songs, I don't care if the lyrics are horrible, I just listen to whatever I enjoy listening to. One reason might be that it's in a language I don't understand so I don't mind how silly the lyrics are as long as they produce good sounds, but even when I know the lyrics of the songs it still doesn't bother me. KPOP is manufactured, the lyrics are bought, the voices are altered, the singers themselves often have surgery, but none of that really bothers me. I don't listen to music for meaning, I listen to music to for fun, if I enjoy a certain song then I'll listen to it regardless of any of those things. The KPOP topic was created for a few reasons. Firstly, it was created for me to share the great sounds of KPOP with everyone. Secondly, it is fantastic at annoying people who have the idea that one type of music is better than another, for this reason I often say that KPOP is the best music and it almost always gets a reaction out of them. And thirdly, the topic has also helped me find a lot more KPOP than I would have found otherwise.
Random questions, incomin'. Prettiest women on the planet? No KPOP girls. Wow wow wow, no KPOP girls allowed? Fine, I'd probably say Melanie Iglesias. If KPOP girls were allowed, I'd probably say Taeyeon(Girls' Generation & TaeTiSeo) is the best, but Nana (After School & Orange Caramel) is probably the most attractive.

Fair enough! North or South Korea? DPRK does have a good bin policy, but I'm going to have to go with the South, they have KPOP, fantastic cinema, and the best Starcraft II players.
Seems legit! Alrighty Sphinx, what's behind your username?! It wasn't my first BL name, I used to have a variety of names and most of them I don't remember now. But I chose Sphinx because I had a sphinx statue on my table(one you'd get from a gift shop), and couldn't come up with anything else. And that name just stuck with me on here.

Hello BlueEagle! Could you introduce yourself to the lovely Bootleggers Community?! Well, I've been playing this game since 2006. I've been in so many crews like EL, TR, TV, 23rd and so many other crews. I've never played under the BE name before this reset. I'm known as Abus3oob/Sa3bood.
Do you study/work in real life?! Yup, I'm in University. I study law. I want to be a lawyer. This is my first year in university. I'm almost 19 years old.
Interesting! Why a lawyer?! Uhm, to be honest it's not a thing that I wanted to be. When I finished school, I just didn't know what to study. My brother wants to be an lawyer and my aunt, and her husband are lawyers. And they make so much money over here in the middle east. So, I didn't know what I should study, so I went for the thing that gives me $$. However, it's so hard and complicated but still, it's so much fun. It let's you know all about the countries and to know what everyone can and can't do.
You watched the movie 'The Devil's advocate?' Nope, not really. But I heard of it.
It's about a lawyer who defends someone who is actually guilty. What's your opinion of that? Uhhm, that's not a good thing I believe. I always try to be fair with everyone. When I become a lawyer I'll never defend someone guilty. I'll always defend good people and do good things.
What if you lose your job if you don't?! Well, I'm a guy of priorities. If I lose my job, of course other people will let me in theirs.
Seems legit. Bootleggers time! What's your opinion of Bootleggers at this moment? Well, bootleggers has always been a fun game. But it's not like before. I remember at old times more than 1,000 were online at the same time. Now we rarely see 350 online at the same time. But still, it's a nice fun game and it's getting better with those new updates.
