Hello and welcome to the eighth installment of The Chat in which this week we see the interviewing of BettyB, Boss of Event Horizon, a crew which has largely presided to the shadows after being a prominent figure on the Statistics in the early stages of this round and indeed rounds gone by. BettyB is rarely short of an opinion so we went to work with our set of questions to see what she had to day on some of the hot topics of the day.
We kicked off the interview by asking BettyB what she made of The Family's current dominance and indeed apparent lack of resistance to their fight. The Family of course being a crew BettyB is all too familiar with, having exchanged rounds with the crew for what seems like eternity with her own crew Event Horizon. On the subject at hand however, she told us, "It's turning into last round all over again. People would rather suck up to try not to get shot than become involved and try to fight the dominance. That being said, I understand it's extremely difficult to shoot at people who are constantly underground and don't have what it takes to show themselves before they shoot. The general people of the game need to be careful though, eventually The Family (as well as their friends Asura) will get bored and shoot the crews.. even the ones who've been sucking up." Indeed it has to be said it is all well and good trying to play alongside the power groups at any given point. However what happens when you become their main threat in terms of their dominance? Do you expect they will spare you because you once did them a favor? Reality will hit at some point, that's for sure.
This being said and with the current demographic lying where it does, where does BettyB see the future of this round as being? She wasn't shy in her realistic pessimism as she told us, "I think that this round will end very much like last round. Eventually people won't be able to rank without getting shot and more people will quit Bootleggers. That is unless someone (BSF2000) steps in and takes control of the situation by putting out some of the updates he promised months ago." Now, with the track record of the years gone by and indeed even that of the current round, the likelihood of BSF2000 riding in on horseback and saving the round looks an unlikely one. Updates are needed and we see on a weekly basis users cry out for them to arrive and be implemented effectively perhaps alongside a reset of the round. Now, in an interview with Sky that I previously conducted, it was the case he was hopeful this could be achieved by years end. However with the code apparently being there to see at this same time yet us still not seeing any movement on the coming to the forefront of this update, it may be an unhelpful suggestion to hold ones breath when waiting for all these promises to materialize unless you like to die of suffocation.
We closed this part of the interview by asking BettyB what, given the opportunity, she would do to change the game and the direction in which is currently heads. She had the following to say, in no uncertain terms, "Well, I wouldn't have implemented the current kill system, I would have just adjusted the old one as it was the only small chance of survival a crew or large group had against a shooter (the speed kill part). I also wouldn't have put in the current witness statement system, if someone witnesses a kill.. It is just way too random and makes no sense. The other thing that I feel should have been a priority right from the start is crews, they really should be a much bigger part of the game than say.. busting. The way the game is set up is more against the crews than anything." As perhaps one of the most experienced crew Bosses that has seen it all on the game, perhaps the words of BettyB should be heeded. They do of course collaborate with the words of many which we have seen in the Forums as well as heard through this very articles interviews.
We concluded our interview with BettyB by trying to obtain an exclusive for the readers regarding much talked about crew Event Horizon. However when asked the crews Boss was giving little away as we were told at first, "What is this Event Horizon you speak of?" When then asked if we can expect to need to cover any action perpetrated by either the crew of their associates we were told, "I can't answer that." This may be taken as a sign that things are in the pipeline or alternatively that the pipeline is empty. Either way, it is certainly unlikely that Event Horizon will be seen at any point soon on the Statistics.
