Welcome one and all to the newest of the weekly articles. In this series of columns you will read what has annoyed both me and other members in the Bootleggers community over the last seven days. Column number one concerns; Rankism.
Yes, rankism. A term heard all over usually by players under the rank of Boss. For those of you unaware; rankism is a term used to descibe when a player is discriminated because of his or her rank (the Bootleggers version of racism). As you may know when you commit an Organized Crime with higher ranks you earn more EXP, which means it is not always recommended to OC with low ranks. This is why some players do not wish to OC with low rank. Racism? No, rankism! But this week, I, at the rank of Legendary Godfather have been the victim of rankism. Some players do believe it’s a myth. I am here to disprove this. Now the player in question will remain anonymous to avoid bad blood.
Now early last week I was looking for an Organized Crime in the usual way when I came across a topic. A Don was leading in New York. My thought; ''Ok let’s look at the topic''. Now, the one million dollar question; what did I find inside the topic:
Boss+
Godfather+
Don+
None of the above
Well?! Tense silence... Wait for it... A bit longer... The answer... Is... The answer is D, kind of. The topic stated ''if you are below Don BM your offer above 500k''. What? 500k! This is obscene for two reasons. Number one, no one will make anywhere near that in an OC to recoup that amount of money to join an OC and number two; I think it's slight discrimination towards lower ranked players. But none the less I messaged the leader saying I was available for the OC. I got the reply ''Wots ur offer m8''. I said to this player that I am Legendary Godfather and shouldn’t have to make an offer and he sent back the epically arrogant: ''U R a low rank, if u want 2 join it will b 150k''. I refused, as you would expect and it seemed another name was added on his filter list.
To be honest I wasn’t bothered about being filtered by this power trip fool as I know that I will never have to speak to him/her ever again. I will sure as hell never want to OC with this these kind of persons. But it does beg the question, how long did it take him to fill the OC? Also how much did he or she make from this OC? If he or she made a lot money, will he or she continue to discriminate? All I know is that this player is a rankist even to a rank, one step below his or her own.
I hope I have proven today that rankism is still around and not a myth. As a final note, Rankists, you are morally misguided and that is my gripe.
