Uno Championship NaamloosII

YES, ladies and gentlemen, there has been an Uno Championship on Bootleggers! It was the first and it may not be the last that we will see. I had a lot of fun planning it and I was thrilled by the amount of people that participated in this championship. In no time we had filled up 40 spots and a reserve list of another 14 people. WOW, that’s great, right? Well it all turned out a little different of what I had in mind if you ask me. It was fun hosting it and seeing people enjoy the championship, but of course in any new thing there are some complications. The first complication occurred around the time and date of the championship. I clearly stated inside the topic that people should only join if they were certain that they were able to join it at the set date and time. However, some people came to me asking if I was able to change it as they were not able to come online at the certain time and date. Well you can all understand that it is hard to find a good date and time to fit everyone there time in their own country. We have people playing bootleggers from all over the world, but the most of the players are from Europe ( Great-Britain and The Netherlands). So the most logic way is to set the time and date at their countries as the chance of getting a lot of people in it is bigger. Ah well after a while everyone agreed on the new date and time that I had set, too at least also meet some of the people outside of Europe.

Well it was time to unleash all the gladiators and begin with the championship, but wait what?! Only 16 of the 40 people were online at the time the championship should start. What was I to do? Well I simply asked everyone from the reserve list if they could join and if not then so be it. After some time we had enough people to start the championship. Full excitement all the players joined the games that they were supposed too. Even Alan joined, yes Alan the number one uno-player of all times on Bootleggers for as far as we know. Did he win you ask me? You will find it out somewhere later in this article! Ah well, after some problems we finally started the championship and all was going like I planned it. Until I found out that later on in the second round people began to join groups when they were not supposed to as they were already out of the competition. I removed those from my friend list and the games were on again until we reached the final 4, who were going to battle for a nice amount of cash and points. The winner would receive $5,000,000 and a couple of points. Money was donated by our beloved Moderator Aldarion. We had a winner after a heavy battle which was really fun to watch. The winner of the first Uno Championship is… **drum rolls**… Tesselate! We want to congratulate him once again with winning this amazing competition!

Of course when I became a Buzz writer and wanted to write an article about it, I contacted the winner and asked his opinion of this championship and he answerd “It was a good idea, and I think it worked reasonably well on the day but a difficult contest in the sense that it was difficult to fix a date and make sure all participants were online to go. Didn't help that some people were simply out there to ruin it by joining games they should not have been a part of, but overall a good contest. Perhaps a bigger prize fund would get everyone to co-ordinate a bit better?”

So the next question is, how is your opinion with the way I ran it? He stated: “It was ran very well considering it is not an easy competition to hold. Perhaps Sky can code something where it allows you to host competitions?” Uh say what now?! Make a new feature for uno? So I asked him how he would like this feature to be. Something like the bust party feature, were people can also donate towards such a championship? He replied “You should be able to create your own games whereby you select number of participants". So is this a feature that more people like to have? Maybe if we would suggest it to Sky and he finds it a good idea, he even may consider making us such a feature. I also like that idea very much and who knows we might have such an option in the future! I also asked our winner if he would like to add something else to this interview and his response was clear “I am the ultimate Uno champion. Alan is only ranked #1 because he plays all day, everyday.” So Alan I guess we have a new champion!

So there you have it people, all the ins and outs of the very first Bootleggers Uno Championship. It was a success after all and the people who joined were very happy with joining it. Up to the next one, if there will ever be another one of course!
