Reset My Timer! Daltonn

Haven’t we all lurked the Classifieds searching for someone to an Organized Crime with? Hopefully clicking a topic which states: “Legendary Don looking for OC” or “Legendary Don for hire” only to find out seconds later that they are not able to to an Organized Crime yet. In the topic you will find a description something like: “If you reset my timer.” But what does this mean exactly?

It was February 3th, 2008 when this feature was implanted, something of which not everyone was happy to see it even being added to the points page. Now years later you’ll hear no one complain about it and it seems everyone accepted this feature and are even very happy to have it. Resetting your Organized Crime timer is only possible if you have less than 10 hours to wait for your next Organized Crime. In the past this meant that after doing an Organized Crime you had to wait at least two hours before participating in another one. But since the update BSF2000 implanted on December 7th of 2012, reducing the Organized Crime timer with 2 minutes and 15 seconds every stamina level up, you’ll be able to reset your timer every half hour if you would’ve worked your stamina up to level 40. This gives a great advantage for those who are considered rich on Bootleggers.

The option to reset the Organized Crime timer isn’t something which has always been here on Bootleggers, in fact it wasn’t even BSF2000 who added this feature. It was the work of an old staff member who we knew as Sabin. For the people who don’t know who Sabin was, he was a Moderator on Bootleggers for 663 days before he got promoted to Administrator.

The question I ask myself is: Have there always been such topics like the one stated above in this article? Is it so that since late 2009 people are offering their services to do an Organized Crime if someone is willing to reset their timer? The answer that comes to mind is; No. But this is not the case. Since this option became to be there have always been people stating they would gladly do an Organized Crime with you if you were to reset their timer, but no one can't deny that over the past months it has been seen more frequently then ever before. I personally think it has something to do with the point prices. Point prices back then were much higher than they are now. If I remember correctly they were always around $30.000/$35.000 per point which is like double of what they are worth now. This means resetting ones Organized Crime timer is much cheaper than before so people are also offering others to do this more because they see that there are enough people willing to do it. I think another reason is the amount of people online at one given time. The times which I’m talking about always had around 400-500 people online, and an Organized Crime team was filled within minutes or even seconds. Your inbox flooded with bootmails when making a topic is something I remember very clearly. Nowadays there are times when making a topic you wouldn’t receive a single bootmail for over 10 minutes and you start to look for possible Organized Crime members by checking out the online list and clicking on their names hoping they are revealing on their profile when they’ll be able to do one. It is because of this, Organized Crimes not getting filled as easily as once before, that people more often create a topic requesting to let someone reset their timer so they would be able to join their Organized Crime. The last and final reason I can think of is of course the fact that resetting ones timer would only been done if they had a high(er) rank, considering that the whole round has been dominated by some and that a high rank was not easy to achieve or to keep, it makes sense that less people were offering to reset their timer because they knew no one would pay a Boss or Godfather an x amount of points to do this. Recently there were made some changes in the scripts which resulted in more people having higher ranks, the phenomenon of resetting onces timer is yet again found in high amounts spreaded over the Classifieds and on peoples profiles.

Resetting ones Organized Crime timer is something which has been collecting poplularity the past months, you can’t look at the Classifieds no more and not see a single topic requesting to reset ones timer. For some it’s even possible to do one every half hour. If you would have endless money and points to spend, it would even be possible to do 32 Organized Crimes every day (16 hours of playing Bootleggers and 8 hours of sleep) so you could reach the rank of Nation Don within a month. So my advice to you all is: Are you a high ranked player? Just make a topic in Classifieds saying that you would join their Organized Crime if they’re willing to reset your timer, I can guarantee you that you’ll be able to do a lot more Organized Crimes then you’re doing now, and you won’t even have to pay it out of your own pocket!
