This week it was brought to our attention that a picture making competition had entered the Bootleggers Forums, however, this was no normal contest. The user Temuijin was asking out to the Bootleggers community to edit three pictures of The Syndicate. The reward? A staggering 1000 points would go to the winner. We look at whether the return of The Syndicate is indeed nigh and what this could hold in store for us all.
The immediate reaction of our Bootleggers members was to query the authenticity of the post. Many were in disbelief at the number of points available and demanded to see the points verified, and to their bemusement, they were. Surely an early statement of intent from one of the most infamous underground crews ever to play Bootleggers. The number of points being put on display, merely for a picture contest, shows us the huge resources The Syndicate must still possess. We here at the Buzz managed to get hold of an anonymous member of The Syndicate to testify as to whether they were indeed coming back. The result was an incredibly short but meaningful interview that offered little explanation, but nevertheless gave us our answer. We bombarded the user with questions, eager to find out more; however, we were only informed of the following: ‘We officially retired a few months into round 6 due to the lack of original players being around, that has changed. As for any other question; the syndicate does not exist.’
We can infer from this that The Syndicate are surely looking to return to the game, however, could we witness them anytime soon? Unfortunately that’s a question that we cannot answer; they could be planning for an immediate comeback or perhaps they are preparing for Round 8. Even so, I’m sure many will be worried at the awakening of a crew that has been dormant for the best part of two years. For those of you that are new to the game, The Syndicate were once one of the most powerful underground organisations in the game, responsible for the wipe of many high profile crews including Winter Hill Gang, The Deadly Alliance and Eternal Labyrinth. Could a return of The Syndicate spell trouble for any of our current crews on the statistics page? That remains to be seen, but if we’ve learnt anything from the past, it’s to not take The Syndicate lightly and treat them with the same respect they offer you.

Of course, this speculation is all irrelevant; after all, The Syndicate does not exist!
