This week we witnessed a huge increase of the recent point value. At the moment of writing this article the recent value is $20,000, however I see a lot ‘buying points topics’ with higher prices. Everyone seem to be buying points this week. Is it because of the possible exploit or is it because the value has not been increased for a while? It is pretty hard to certify, but one thing is sure; the point feature has a huge role in Bootleggers. In this article you can read my opinion of this feature and it is time for some suggestions to improve this feature.
What would happen if points were not automatically transferred to your new account if you died? What if you would lose all your points once you are being killed? At this moment points are most likely being used as some sort of safety purchases. In case you are being killed you always keep your points, which means players are buying points to keep a safe income. In case you need some money again you can easily sell your points or you can use the option to convert them. Is this really the thought behind points on Bootleggers? After all, points are the only ‘things’ you can buy on Bootleggers for real life cash. What about other games on the internet, such as Candy Crush or Angry Birds? At those games you can buy plenty of things with real life cash; things, you normally cannot get without spending real life cash. Those purchases makes the games much easier, which means it is definitely worth it to spend real life money. What about Bootleggers? Is it really worth to spend real life cash for a few points? Besides, you can also buy points with in-game money. What would happen if you can only buy a M1919 Browning .30 Cal with points that can only be purchased with real life cash? It is just an example, but most games on the internet work like that. Not even to mention the existence of unverified points. Why should you wait a few days if you just bought something for real life cash? Customer centricity is nowhere to be found.
At the Points page, you have the ability to purchase Points for real life cash. For five fancy dollars you can buy 10 points. Technically, that means two points for one dollar. You also have two other choices, like buying 200 points for 20 dollar. For the record, that means ten points for one dollar. A huge difference with the first ability, which means it is far more interesting to spend 20 dollar. A clever marketing trick, but I believe the difference is way too big. It does not make any sense to buy 10 points for five dollars. What would I do? I personally would add a few more amounts including discounts which actually makes sense. What about 500 points for 45 dollar and 1,000 points for 80 dollar? Anymore suggestions for improving this feature? Definitely. What about some sort of happy hour? During such hours there is a special discount for all the players who purchase points at that time.
Points, a very important feature on Bootleggers. What exactly would happen if it disappeared? I believe it has various, interesting, results. I believe we would witness way smaller shootings, because it is not possible to convert any points to bullets. Another result is more game-play. The players who were smart at the beginning of this round are now extremely wealthy and are mainly banking their money. They are buying points every day, so they do not have to crime or steal cars to earn some money. No more points means they would lose everything if they were being killed. The result? More game-play and less domination since wealthy players have to start over if they are being killed. Finally it would also increase the use of the Swiss Bank feature, a feature which is barely used these days.
A lot players are buying and selling points on Bootleggers. Not many of these players ever purchased points for real life cash. I mean, why should they? They can wait till a player gives them away in a Bust Party or when a Moderator hosts a Russian Roulette and gives them 1,000 points. For the record, that is a prize of 100 dollars. So, will the points feature ever disappear? I believe not, unless BSF2000 finds another interesting way of earning real life cash. Would Bootleggers become more interesting without the points feature? Definitely. Would the point feature become more interesting with some customers centricity? Definitely. Will it ever happen? I believe it will, but that means it is already too late. Bootlegger does not need any blackjack feature, let’s start with customer centricity.
