Remember that guy Raze ? Well last week, before I was accepted into the Buzz, I was able to catch up with him after the gun smoke had settled, and his spree was completed. When talking with Raze, it was clear to see that he is disappointed with how the kill feature is set up and even said, "There is plenty I would change to the kills system, mostly to make it more challenging to use and achieve big sprees with. " He even admitted to saying in the forums, "I quite liked Sabin's kill system, however it wasn't implemented perfectly." Raze has been a shooter for a couple years now and brought up one very interesting feature that he felt would have a tremendous effect on the kill feature.
The feature that was discussed was a 'heat' or 'wanted' parameter. This feature has two different uses that it could be used for. One way that the feature could be used, is that with each kill, your 'heat' or 'wanted' level increases. With your wanted level increasing each additional kill makes you wait a little bit longer between each kill. Raze stated that by putting this into effect, it would make it more challenging in order to do crew wipes, and with this feature, working as a team will be absolutely crucial.
Another alternative for the use of a 'heat' or 'wanted' meter, would be increasing your chances of being picked up by the police. Like the first idea for this feature, your 'wanted' level would slightly increase after each kill. Being picked up the police can happen in one of two ways. First, is that with each kill you gamble with the chance of being caught by the police right after shooting someone. The second option is that you may be caught while at the train station. If your wanted level is high, the more risk you have when traveling and the more possibly that you may be picked up by the police when traveling to your next location for the next set of kills.
How much jail time will you be given if you get caught by the police? That will depend on how high your wanted level is and if you are able to bribe the police in letting you out early, or maybe you can even try to 'bust' yourself out.
Whether or not you think this can be a fix for the kill feature, it definitely is a start in the quest to add more excitement to Bootleggers, and exposes the problem that lies within the kill feature. In all actuality, how can killing someone be easier than stealing a car or committing a crime in a new city?
