This week we witnessed FDB leave the stats with new crew The Phoenix Rebellion emerging from the ashes to purchase the crew spot from Jimmy.
We got in contact with the boss of new crew The Phoenix Rebellion, Rawhide to ask a few questions about his crew.
The first question many people were asking, and we were no different, was where this interesting crew name came from. Rawhide told us, "well, the crew has only been created this round, but the founders of the crew have been playing for many years together, so you can argue that it existed in previous rounds! We just decided to get together and start a new crew, so one of our members got high (we all know who it is) and in that state, decided to watch a Harry Potter film (lame right?). At that point, he starts writing things about Phoenix birds being awesome and how they would be badass to have in a war. So from that, ladies and gents, is how the name was formed. Not much of a mystery now." Maybe not a mystery any longer, but strange; certainly.
When asked how the crew spot was acquired, he somewhat lightheartedly said, "We asked all the crews if we could have theirs, but they wouldn't hear any of it. It took teamwork to send all those bm's. At the end of the day, we got this spot and invaded it as soon as it was ours." We did a bit more digging at the Buzz and found out it was nowhere near as exciting as ‘invaded’ makes it sound, the crew was purchased for between three and four thousand points from Jimmy, who was unavailable for comment regarding why the crew was sold.
Often new crews have an idea of whether they will be peaceful and build their resources over time, or they will hit the stats with the intention of shooting weaker crews to show their strength. Rawhide was unsurprisingly quite secretive about his crew's plans, "Well this is a trick question. You answer by saying that you intend to be an aggressive crew and then everyone shoots you for wanting to be a badass, yet you answer friendly and everyone shoots you for being a coward. So let's say that for the time being, we are a passive-aggressive crew who will probably get shot at but is ready for it. Our main goal is to have communication and loyalty in our ranks, so that is key for us to remain where we are currently. We will evaluate the state of the game and our affairs with other crews and decide where to move from there.” A bit of a closed book, but the message seems to be that although The Phoenix Rebellion won’t start it, they are more than ready for fights if they come their way.
Recruitment can be difficult for new crews with a finite number of players and often few that can actually be fully trusted. Rawhide told us, "Well at the moment we only have members who know each other; though there is that one account we don't know where it came from. I was hoping your journalistic experience can help me there. Anyways, we do know each other and will decide to recruit other good loyal members when the time is right and we will put it in our crew profile." Our journalistic skills led us to believe that that account could have been that of new Buzz Editor, Poison, who acted as a middle man in the sale. Although we could of course, be totally wrong!
Finally, as this is the Easter edition of the Buzz, we asked about Rawhide’s plans for Easter, "Eating lots of mini- eggs, of course" he told us. Not a bad decision we thought, although we’re more crème egg people here at the Buzz!
So it appears we have a new crew on the stats lead by experienced players not scared to have a sense of humour.
