In this week’s Forum Post of the Week I chose a topic regarding a feature discussion. This discussion was led by CorleonesiMafioso and received a lot of positive feedback overall. The subject of it was a shout out in order for a gambling feature to receive an update. CorleonesiMafioso felt that the current poker feature isn’t what it’s supposed to be, nearly no one uses it. In my experience even if someone wants to have a quick 25% chance of multiplying his 6 or 7 figure ante by 4 times, when he makes a topic in classifieds he still needs to wait nearly 30 minutes to get it filled up! Sometimes it doesn’t even happen at all and you decide to give up.
I actually voted against this topic and simply because I don’t like the whole cashier thing. The cashier thing is fine as it is, but making poker a part of cashier and thus for making it a part of the state, is also not the way it went in real life when this all happened. Mobsters gambled illegal and everywhere they could, I believe the casinos on Bootleggers should represent that whole mafia scene. Maybe this isn’t the only reason why I didn’t like the topic right away, there are are a lot of other things who deserve their full attention before moving on to other things. I understand it’s only a feature discussion, but there have been many lately, some better than others and I believe we should focus on and discuss upcoming changes we know about: The crew update and yes, the blackjack update.
While we mere mortals were discussing this feature update in the game forum, not one of the staff members intervened with the topic to share the thoughts of the Elite Guard regarding this matter. So I decided to drop Mika a bootmail.
Hello Mika, I believe you haven't reacted in the poker discussion topic in the game forum and I and the community are wondering about the views of a staff member regarding this. Do you believe that in the nearby future, the poker feature should receive an update? I believe it is a feature that could certainly use an update. Tying it to the Cashier would be a good thing to do as would the addition of game rooms. If you could get poker to look more like the versions that can be played nowadays such as Pokerstars then the feature would be more popular than it is now, and may even regain the popularity it had when it was first introduced.
However, I do not know how difficult it would be to do this coding wise. Additionally, there are also some more urgent updates that should be completed prior to this being on the top of the list.
Can you mention some of the urgent updates that are bound to happen soon? I'm afraid I can't. I don't know in what state of development the scheduled updates are, unfortunately.
Do you know where Sky is so I can ask him then? Haven’t seen him in a while. I'm not sure about that myself either, but when Sky doesn't log in he is usually extremely busy at work. And he did mention something about him expecting to be busy, so I think that's the reason for his absence.
At the time of this writing, the topic has 78 comments and 48 upvotes. The feature discussion has been liked by 94% of the voters and I think that stands for something. Not many ideas we’ve seen recently received so much positive feedback and maybe this should feature should be dealt with in the future. It’s like Mika said, we don’t know how much coding it’ll take and there are other urgent updates that need to be dealt with first, but having this many positive feedback might speed things up for the poker update!
