COLUMN: Bullet Prices Skyrocket! Ral_Zarek

Recently there have been a few forum posts complaining about the high price of bullets from bullet factories. Let's discuss the reasons they are so high and explore this issue in greater detail! Bullet prices are set by the ones who control them. There are three 'methods' of determining price: low, average and high.

Owners who set their prices low are doing so in an attempt to persuade people to buy from them. They prefer to see no bullets in their factory and profits in their pocket. It's a simple rule of economics that if you are selling a product in high demand at a cheaper rate then you will sell more. Unfortunately we have no owners that are in the low category at the moment. The low category tends to keep inflation from rising out of control.

The average people have the idea that by setting a middle range price they will build up stock and then rapidly sell it. So long term they will make more profit but it may take some time to get there. That is what most of our current bullet owners mentality is. It's simple that the demand cannot be met purely by the low priced retailer. So they can afford to wait and still sell.

The final type is the high price. It may seem silly to put the prices so much higher but there are various reasons. In doing so the prices of bullets will rise as the average seller will try to keep their prices only just below the high prices. Additionally it means that the bullet factories which charge the most will build up stocks of bullets. When an underground shooter then comes to buy from the owner who has the high prices, they may buy five to six thousand bullets at a time. Then the owner will simply send back to the shooter the profits of the factory so that the shooter doesn't lose out by stocking up to shoot for that crew.

Now the bullet factories in this game are currently owned by only three crews. Two of these crews work closely with a few major underground crews and the third's boss owns a major underground crew. So the factories prices have been driven high and kept high by the privileged few who are able to keep and hold them.

This means that the prices will not come back down this round. All that will happen is steadily the bullet prices will rise higher and higher until no one but the underground shooters can afford them.

This has another major impact on the game. The people who own bullet factories are the biggest point buyers in the game. Having more money means that they will be prepared to pay more for each point they buy in order to buy them faster. This will drive up point prices. So far this has been controlled but in the very near future prices will rise higher and higher.

That in turn has another dominoes effect upon the cheapest bullet factory in the game, the Louisiana one owned by the state. This bullet factory has its prices determined by the point prices and so there will be no sources available for regular users to buy bullets unless they gain a lot more money.

We are coming to a situation where inflation is on the brink of spiralling out of control completely. So far this round it has been held in check by factory owners being killed and multiple crews owning factories. But that is all about to change. As always, good luck and happy ranking.
