This week the Buzz decided to look at the off topic forum once again, this time looking at it’s competitions, games and giveaways. While we often talk about bust competitions those don’t happen in the off topic forum instead there are places to win prizes by just being the quickest to post in the topic, or if that isn’t for you, you could test your knowledge in some of the quizzes and riddles posted or even try your luck at a dice game.
We at the Buzz first spoke to the creator of last week’s huge giveaway Youniverse and asked him what his reasoning behind doing this type of competition. “It all comes down to having some fun I guess. I enjoy hosting games, no matter if they are small or big.” His last game was rather large you might say, In the end he gave out $7,200,000 in total to those who got the second answer which was not including the first prize of 500 points. He went on to say that “The feedback I get regarding those games are mostly very positive which means people are having fun competing in the games aswell.” Which we at the Buzz thought was probably the most important thing with giveaways, making sure that everyone enjoys them. Especially as in the most part they have had to work hard in order to gain the resources to then give away to the other players.
This however was not a problem for the second person in the hot seat. Aldarion who told us that he had forgotten the largest prize he had ever given out in the off topic forum but he guessed at the fact it was probably a rank up. Not something that any normal player could give out. Aldarion has recently been running a give away based upon the game Taboo, we asked him if this had been his first off topic game, to which he replied “I've done Taboo games before, even before I got promoted to moderator.” We then asked him what type of game he was most interested in “Ah yes, I absolutely prefer the quizzes. They are great fun to organize and people usually enjoy it too!”.
Our final interview was with Koty who did roughly 20 first to post competitions in a row. We asked him roughly how much he gave away in these first to post he told us that individually he gave out ten or fifteen thousand per topic. However that does begin to add up. When we asked him why did he choose first to post he replied that “ i like to help the people so going to do the FTP just that” We then asked him whether there are enough giveaways in the off topic forum, “i think we miss the FTP giveaways” was his reply.
It does seem that there are many people out there who give away some large prizes in the off topic forum and as Aldarion said at the end of our interview “I think it's great that the OTF forum is used for games like these, the majority being organized by players and games can be found on a day to day basis.” Koty wanted to add that “if the people can do some FTP to help the other that well be good and not that much money but we can do that”. So hopefully there will be a couple more giveaway topics in the off topic forum remember you are not only adding some fun to the game but also could be helping those in need.
