Column: Do you crime all you can? Ral_Zarek

So petty crimes are one of the basic features on this game. Yet how regularly are they used? How many players will constantly commit a crime every two minutes (or less)? I know I don’t. However it occurred to me that this is a feature I under used massively. So I thought I would write about the exact profits that we are all saying goodbye to on a weekly basis. If you do crime as often as possible then keep it up as it is a surprisingly good earner!

Most of you will know that if you are a member of a crew then for every crime you commit you lose nine percent to your crew bank. This isn’t a huge figure but in order to understand the maths it is important to remember this loss. Another aspect to remind you all of is that there is a limit of three hundred crimes in one day. In order to commit three hundred crimes, assuming that your Stamina is at zero, you would need to commit a crime non stop for ten hours. So not many people hit this limit. For the purposes of this article we shall assume you can crime for two hours per day which is the same as sixty crimes.

If you are criming at city one, which is where everyone can start at, and crime at the lowest level you earn, on average, twenty dollars per crime. This is a profit of eighteen dollars (if you are in a crew) and a daily profit of one thousand and eighty dollars. Per week this is seven thousand five hundred and sixty dollars. This is the basic income for crimes. It isn’t a lot. But if you did three hundred of them per day you would earn thirty seven thousand eight hundred dollars per week. Again not a lot. But we all know it’s not hard to commit higher level crimes.

If we jump up to the top of city one for crimes then you earn, on average, ninety dollars. This is eighty one dollars per crime (if you are in a crew) and a daily profit of four thousand eight hundred and sixty dollars. Again not a huge number, but over a week this becomes thirty four thousand and twenty dollars. This almost becomes worth-while. However if you did three hundred crimes per day you would earn one hundred and seventy thousand one hundred dollars per week. This is starting to look worth-while.

So let’s jump up a few cities and look at city three. The first crime in city three gives you, on average, one hundred and thirty five dollars (if you are in a crew). This is eight thousand one hundred dollars per day and fifty six thousand seven hundred per week. However, if you did three hundred in one day that would be two hundred and eighty three thousand five hundred dollars per week. That is some nice money!

Moving up to the top of city three crimes you earn, on average, two hundred and seventy dollars per crime which is one hundred and thirteen thousand four hundred dollars over the course of a week. This becomes five hundred and sixty seven thousand dollars if you committed three hundred per day. Moving up a few more cities to city five, where you need to be a Boss to commit crimes here, you earn three hundred and fifteen dollars, on average, for the bottom crime. This equates to one hundred and thirty two thousand three hundred dollars per week or six hundred and sixty one thousand five hundred per week if you did three hundred crimes per day.

So you can see that crimes do pay off in the long run. It takes a lot of time and can be very tedious but training them up is worth it. If you spend at least two hours per day on Bootleggers it isn’t very hard to do even half as many crimes as these figures in order to gain as much money as possible. However the point that this article demonstrates quite vividly is exactly how much profit a player gains when using an auto refresher. That is why a lot of people supposedly script. A lot of underground groups are thrown around a lot on this topic. But if they did script then the amount of money they would all have individual, within a month period, would far outweigh any money that the rest of the player base would develop and would mean that these groups wouldn’t even need bankers to help their funds grow.

One final point to consider is that if you were to do the city five crimes for one week at two hours per day your crew bank would gain only fourteen thousand seven hundred dollars. This is, again, not a large amount of money. But if fifteen people in the same crew did that every week that crew would gain two hundred and twenty thousand five hundred dollars each week for the crew. So if your crew is trying to save up for that upgrade or a colour change, this is a good way to add to the savings in that bank! As always, good luck and happy ranking.

Editor's Note: Our very own Help Desk Operator Youniverse created a spreadsheet about the profits you can make from doing crimes, all the way up to city 7.
