Now we all know that Bootleggers isn't the most realistic game in existence. You can travel from one end of America to the other in less than a second and carry with you eighty crates of booze! Regardless of how many times the Nevada state bank is robbed it always has hundreds of thousands of dollars inside and no guards to defend its money. Also it takes thousands of bullets to kill anyone. So I have a feature suggestion which can bring just a bit more realism to the game: adding weather effects.
Imagine your travel timer is up and you are deciding where to go to commit an Organized Crime. Are you more likely to travel to the state where rain will make the endeavour more dangerous? Or to the state where the sun is shining brightly and the police are more relaxed enjoying the sun?
If you know there is a snow storm in Colorado, would you still travel there to try to rob from the Denver City Police? Yet couldn't a snow storm have a positive effect as well as a negative one? The conditions are more dangerous so a reckless driver is more likely to escape (if he is lucky) than a calm and safe policeman. Yet there would be a risk of death of injury. Committing an Organized Crime in the middle of a snow storm could bring about extra sized vaults as you have more time to collect the money. But a higher risk of failure. Would you take those odds?
In the real world there are, on occasion, tornadoes that strike suddenly. But what effect would tornadoes have if you were trying to kill a crew? Suddenly cars are being ripped away into the sky and two gangsters are standing there shooting each other? More bullets would be required and there would be a severe risk of death on both sides.
On the West Coast its not inconceivable that a tsunami could hit washing away cars and killing hundreds. But it would leave businesses unprotected and cars ripe for the taking for the risk taking gangster who wants to make some profit in others misery.
Finally we can look at earthquakes. They happen more often then people realize and aren't always devastating. But if you knew an earthquake was predicted would you rob the bank? Hoping for the vault to split open instead of needing an EE so you could instead use a second driver to take more money away. But again increasing the risk of being caught or injured. Yet it would also damage property such as casinos. Maybe during an earthquake casinos close temporarily or they have higher payout odds, or lower. Perhaps bullet factories stop producing or the owner has to pay to have the buildings repaired?
When a weather element is added to the game there are a lot of random affects that could go wrong. There are also a lot of aspects that could benefit the player as well. In all honesty we have many other updates we are waiting for so this is unlikely to appear anytime soon. But it would certainly add some randomness to the game and give it a more realistic appearance. Weather reports would change many aspects to this game as would the occasional natural disaster. So let us know what you think of this suggestion in the comments box! As always, good luck and happy ranking!
