What ever happened to... StrangerThanFiction

The one after the 10 year break..

It's a cold and windy day in illinois. I find myself gazing out the window across the street to the jail where Pattu is holding a 240 + million dollar bust party. I know what my goal is, but I haven't done it in so very long I am unsure of myself. I pull out my type writter and begin..

Long long ago.. in a very different time of online gaming there were five friends. These friends had a choice to make. Pay to play a game they liked, or build one of their own.

Unsure of what would come she waited. It was only a week before gonzo lights up her msn and said “want to see something?” and shows her that he was able to make a timer. It was simple but it worked. That same night bsf says “look I made a clock.” That was the moment it was real. That was the birth of a whole new world.

Over the next few weeks there was much progress. There were many ideas that were put into play right away and some that were shot down. Together they all worked on their task lists and at the end of every night they would all meet up on msn and go over the days work. Communication back then was nothing like it is now. Oh what they would have given to have “skype”.

As things started to look somewhat like a game, the next step was to see if it was playable. After they grab the headache pills and decide who will test, they think they are ready. It only takes two hours before they realize they may have rushed things. At the end of the first week they have lists on top of lists of bugs/glitches. It was much like a true battle. For some time it seemed that for every bug/glitch handled, five more would be reported. The friends were loyal and together they worked it out and still managed to have a few laughs along the way.

As we think back, we chuckle.. we have all grown and moved on in life. Bootleggers created a bond in some of those friends that can't be broken. Have you ever wondered.. what happened to them?

They have all grown up. We already heard from kyle in his video. Let me sum up the rest...

Lets start with Gonzo.. who joined the navy and served his country. He got out and attended school where he got his degree. I can remember a few years back talking to him on the phone shortly after he had wrapped his corvette around a tree and thinking he is still one of the luckiest guys I know. :Þ You will never see him in the streets of boot. It was hard when that split happened. No one ever wants to see friends fight. OH HOW THEY WOULD FIGHT. It wasn't long before he left the game.

Brand83187 is up next. He also went to college and now is some big wig in sales. He just recently got engaged to a very talented and beautiful woman. They set a date and everything. I'm so excited for him. He has contributed many ideas and would also be the first one to shoot things down with his logic gun. He is good with formulas and numbers, always has been. He is also one of my best friends in boot to this day. He has always been around and I think always will be.

Fixxer was the first one to be green because he wanted to kill. It was not allowed to “play” as admin. At first he wanted to be the “elite guard grim reaper” the one to kill the scammers and exploiters. That was a huge no from BSF and an argument was had. It was quickly fixed when fixxer was told to pick a color and became the first moderator. He strayed away from staff right away and right into the black horde. He now works long hours to exceed expectations at work. He loves his girls .. all three of them. He has also always been around.

That leaves me.. I did what I could. I would spend my days talking to the players while monitoring the database, and my nights spent potty training and playing wife (not very well either). It was my nagging and persistance that the buzz was born and was the first editor. I would gather the days helpdesks and ideas/suggestions and present the lists/results to bsf. I made mistakes I am not proud of and will always be sad about the friendship lost. I can be found in the streets of boot, but never by brightstar. I spent some “cooling off” time on the bOs list but I'm off and playing. I love our girls and fixxer very much.

She pulls the paper from the wheel of the writer and looks at it. It has been so long it almost looks like wingdings on the page. She slips in the photo and seals the article up to be mailed.
