To quote FIFA 14's epic opening and give it a new Bootleggers ring was quite fun for me to write, but now let us get down to business. What is up with this game, people?! It seems to attract your attention every minute of the day, and it keeps you coming back. Even when you claim that you have finally quit playing, you really didn't did you?
I have had a break myself. I was done with the game. Having played for the most part of nine years now, I decided to stop playing as recent events had made me sick of it. But it remains impossible for me to stay away.
Although you may say that you hate the game, you keep loving it and it keeps pulling your sleeves to come back to it. It is not the clicking action that arouses you, nor is it the rank, wealth or the gambling. What makes this game so much fun is the players. As everybody keeps coming back, we keep seeing the same friends return while making new ones, playing together with them to achieve in-game goals which really don't mean anything; it's just the journey that counts, as it is with all things in life.
Yet I fail to see that myself sometimes, and I have seen a lot of people playing this game who are clearly not getting that message at all. "Give me some money!" or "I want to rank; stop killing me!" are quotes we have all heard repeatedly. But why do you want to rank? Forever N.Don isn't fun? And why would you gamble, etc., when you are already rich? If you have unlimited money, the game is no fun; look at the chaos mode at the end of each round, for instance, when each player's rank is increased and he or she receives a sizable batch of money and bullets. But after playing like that for a couple of hours, one notices the fun start to disappear.
Just admit that you play Bootleggers for the journey with your friends, and don't complain every time something unfavorable happens. Most importantly, don't say you quit. I say it way too often and never really do. Call it a break, because that might be the truth. But you can't truly escape the horrible game we play.
